Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is recruiting Project Senior Technician and Project Technician staff for the Department of Cardiology in Puducherry. Both roles support CARDIAC-INDIA, a research programme using artificial intelligence, multimodal signals and personalised medical records to improve the early detection and management of cardiovascular disease. This is a short project engagement supported by external funding, making it a practical fit for medical-laboratory professionals who want hands-on biobank and cardiovascular research exposure.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Senior Technician (Medical Laboratory): a supervisory laboratory role focused on coordinating the biobank, standardising operations and connecting sample-tracking work across participating sites.
• Project Technician (Medical Laboratory): an operational role centred on sample collection, preparation, safe movement, storage and accurate entry of participant and barcode information.

Post-wise Duties

Project Senior Technician

You will coordinate the biobank workflow, prepare standard operating procedures and supervise the staff involved in daily laboratory activity. Your work also covers specimen registers, inter-site sample tracking and specialised processing such as DNA, RNA and omics preparation.

Project Technician

You will support day-to-day sample handling, including collection, centrifugation, packaging, transport and biobank storage. You will also keep stock and collection records current, correct data queries and enter barcoded samples with participant details into the project database.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project status: these are purely contractual positions tied to an externally sponsored project. The engagement does not create a claim to a regular JIPMER post.
• Initial tenure: the likely engagement is for six months and may be extended or shortened by the Project Investigator according to project need and funding.
• Experience timing: relevant work experience must have been gained after completing the essential qualification and should come from a recognised institution or organisation.
• Screening discretion: JIPMER may use stricter shortlisting standards if it receives a large response, while the Project Investigator may relax or alter stated conditions where the project needs it.
• Communication: keep a working email address and mobile number throughout the process because shortlisted applicants will be contacted through the details given in the form.
• Attendance costs: JIPMER will not pay travel or daily expenses for attending an in-person assessment.
• Remote interaction: if an interview is held by video, you must arrange a suitable phone or computer with a camera, audio and a dependable internet connection.
• Accuracy: false information or canvassing can lead to disqualification and may also end the engagement if discovered later.
