Income Tax TA and MTS Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal and Sikkim is running a sports-quota drive for Tax Assistant and Multi-Tasking Staff appointments across its regional offices. This recruitment is meant for meritorious sportspersons whose recognised performances fit the disciplines and events listed in the notice. You may choose either post or both in one form, but you should clearly record your order of preference because the department uses it while considering your application.

The drive combines an office-based tax support role with an entry-level support role, while sports performance remains central to shortlisting. The notice recognises individual and team achievements on the same footing and sets a clear preference order for international, national, university, Khelo India and school-level representation. Your best eligible sporting performance is assessed rather than the number of certificates alone, with cumulative medals used only to help resolve a tie.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Tax Assistant: an administrative and data-focused role supporting tax-office records, correspondence and computer-based work; shortlisted appointees must also clear the prescribed data-entry standard.
  • Multi-Tasking Staff: an office-support role covering files, dispatch, records movement and routine assistance across sections of the regional Income Tax establishment.
  • Recognised sports disciplines: opportunities span cricket, football, athletics, basketball, swimming, volleyball, table tennis, kabaddi, bridge, chess, carrom, bodybuilding, badminton, archery, karate, lawn tennis and para athletics, with event or playing-position requirements specified by the notice.

Post-wise Duties

Tax Assistant

You will support the processing of tax-office data, keep digital and physical records aligned, and help sections prepare routine statements and correspondence. Accuracy and keyboard proficiency matter because the post carries a qualifying data-entry test for shortlisted candidates.

Multi-Tasking Staff

You will help sections move and organise files, support dispatch and record-room work, and assist with day-to-day office operations. The role is part of the regional establishment, so duties can vary with the office and section where you are posted.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Sports evidence: only certificates issued by the competent authorities and in the prescribed forms are considered; unsupported achievements do not count for this drive.
  • Anti-doping condition: you must have cleared applicable anti-doping checks and disclose any pending inquiry or sporting ban in the prescribed declaration.
  • Posting liability: selected candidates can be placed at any office under the West Bengal and Sikkim regional jurisdiction.
  • Travel: the department will not pay TA or DA for document checks, the field test or joining.
  • Medical fitness: appointment follows a fitness assessment by the regional Income Tax authority.

Write "APPLICATION FOR THE POST(S) OF ________ FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS IN INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT, WEST BENGAL AND SIKKIM" on the envelope.

The official Google Form is a supplementary screening requirement, not a replacement for the physical form. If the two submissions differ, the signed physical application is treated as final.
