Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), an Institute of National Importance, has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 for 2 Library Professional Trainee posts at its Nalanda Library. Fresh postgraduates in Library & Information Science are encouraged to apply — this traineeship gives you hands-on exposure to the various functions and services of a modern academic library. Selection is entirely through a walk-in interview — there is no separate application form to submit in advance, you just need to register online before the deadline and appear on the interview date with your documents.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc) or equivalent, with First Class, from a recognized Indian university
• Desirable: Knowledge of computers, IT applications in libraries, and Library Management Systems
• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India
• You will be required to work six days a week in rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 26 years as on the date of the walk-in interview (24 August 2026).
• Age Relaxation: OBC candidates can apply up to 29 years; SC/ST candidates can apply up to 31 years.

Salary

• Selected trainees will get a consolidated stipend of Rs. 25,000 per month.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in stages:

1. Written Test: Used to shortlist candidates for the next round.
2. Trade/Practical Test: For candidates who qualify the written test.
3. Personal Interview: Final round for shortlisted candidates.
4. Document Verification: You must bring original and self-attested photocopies of all certificates.

Selection is based on your consistent academic record along with your performance in these rounds. Final selection depends on the decision of the competent authority.
