Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT ISM Dhanbad) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a Coal India Limited (CIL) R&D Board-sponsored project in the Department of Mining Engineering. The project, led by Prof. Arka Jyoti Das along with Prof. R. M. Bhattacharjee and Prof. P. S. Paul, develops an innovative extraction method for safer underground coal seam mining. The role involves extensive fieldwork — you will spend 10-15 days at different underground coal mine sites for data collection, alongside numerical simulation and report-writing work back at the institute.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fieldwork: You will need to spend a minimum of 10-15 days at each underground mine site for site investigations and data collection.
• Interview: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and candidates called for interview must arrange their own stay at Dhanbad.
• Document verification: Bring all original certificates and one self-attested photocopy set to the interview for verification.
• Shortlisting: Holding the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call — candidates are shortlisted on merit and project needs.
