Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT ISM Dhanbad), through its Office of the Dean (Research & Development), is hiring a Research Assistant for a Ministry of Mines-sponsored project funded by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). The project, "Design and Development of Advanced Anti-Collision System for Heavy Vehicles in Mining Sectors," runs for 24 months under Principal Investigator Prof. K. K. Singh and Co-Coordinator Prof. Somnath Chattopadhyaya in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The role combines design work with hands-on mine visits, so it suits candidates comfortable with both simulation software and field testing.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Field duties: You will travel to mine sites for testing and data collection as part of the anti-collision system project.
• Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and candidates called for interview must arrange their own stay at Dhanbad.
• Shortlisting: Holding the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call — the selection committee shortlists candidates based on merit and project needs.
• Engagement type: This is a project-based fellowship position tied to the funded project's duration, not a permanent institute post.
