IISc SAP Functional Analyst Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru is hiring Software Engineers (SAP Functional Analyst) for its Digital Campus and IT Services (DIGITS) department under Advertisement No. R(HR)Temp-16(SE-DIGITS)/2026. DIGITS runs the SAP systems that the institute uses for its people, students, money and purchases, and each opening is tied to one of those SAP modules. This is a contract engagement, not a permanent post, but it can run for several years if your work is rated well.

If you already have hands-on SAP functional or domain experience and want to work inside one of India's best-known research institutes, this drive is a good fit. The work is mostly support and improvement of live systems: fixing issues raised by users, writing specifications for changes, testing releases and training staff.

Posts and Disciplines

All four openings carry the same designation, pay and eligibility. What separates them is the SAP module you will look after:

• HR / SAP HCM: the human resources side of the institute, covering employee records and HR processes.
• Student Lifecycle Management (SAP SLcM): the student side, from admission records through academic processes.
• Finance / SAP FICO: accounting and financial processes run through SAP.
• Sourcing and Procurement / SAP MM: purchasing, vendors and materials management.

Pick the module that matches your background — the notice asks for experience in the relevant domain or SAP functional area, so a finance person applying for the SLcM role may struggle at shortlisting.

Post-wise Duties

The day-to-day work is common across all four roles; only the business area changes. You will handle incidents, service requests and change requests within agreed service levels, gather business requirements and write BRD/FRS documents, and work with ABAP, BASIS and security teams on reports, interfaces, forms and workflows. You will also run functional testing, integration testing and UAT before changes go live, and prepare SOPs and user manuals for staff. Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori and ITIL is listed as an added advantage.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Purely temporary and on contract — one year at first, renewable every year up to a maximum of five years based on performance and the institute's needs.
• Earlier IISc service counts: If you were previously engaged at IISc through the HR Section, that time is counted toward the five-year cap.
• Annual increment: Up to 10% a year, at most four times, on the committee's recommendation.
• No service benefits: No claim for PF, pension, seniority or promotion arises from this contract.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with one month's notice.
• Medical fitness: The engagement is subject to you being found medically fit.
• Accommodation: No campus housing is provided, so plan to live in Bengaluru on your own.
• Citizenship: Only Indian citizens can apply.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call; IISc may limit the number of candidates it calls.
