GPSC Deputy Director Recruitment 2026 (PwD)

Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) is hiring for 1 post of Deputy Director, Class-1 in the Gujarat Statistical Service under the General Administration Department (Planning). This is a Special Recruitment Drive for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) — only candidates with Blind/Low Vision disability can apply. GPSC Deputy Director Class-1 Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advt. No. 11/2026-27 for the post of Deputy Director, Class-1, Gujarat Statistical Services under the General Administration Department (Planning). This is the third attempt Special Recruitment Drive reserved exclusively for Divyang (PwD) candidates with Blindness and Low Vision (B/LV). The post is permanent and comes with the prestige of a Class-1 Gazetted Officer role in the Gujarat state cadre.

Who Can Apply?

This recruitment is open only to Persons with Disabilities in the Blind and Low Vision (B/LV) category. You must meet one of the following qualification streams:

Stream A - Post Graduate with Experience

• Qualification: Post Graduate degree (at least second class) with Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Business Statistics, Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Advance Statistics as principal subject from a recognised university.
• Experience: About 5 years on a post not below the rank of Research Assistant, Class III, in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics; OR 5 years in collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data in Government / Local Bodies / PSU / Board / Corporation / Company / University.

Stream B - Ph.D. with Experience

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Business Statistics, Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Advance Statistics.
• Experience: About 2 years on a post not below the rank of Research Assistant, Class III, in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics; OR 2 years in the field of statistical data collection, compilation and analysis.

Other Requirements

• Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Rules, 1967.
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• You must be a citizen of India.
• Only candidates with Blind / Low Vision (B/LV) disability can apply. Other disability types are not eligible for this advertisement.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 42 years as on the last date of application (19 May 2026).
• Age relaxation for PwD candidates: 10 years (maximum up to 45 years).
• Ex-Servicemen: 5 years relaxation.
• Gujarat Government employees: If experience is prescribed as a qualification, upper age limit does not apply.
• Minimum age: 20 years.

Salary

• Pay Matrix: Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 (Level-10) under the 7th Pay Commission.
• Plus Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules.
• This is a Class-1 Gazetted Officer post with the prestige and perks of a senior state government role.

Application Fee

• Persons with Disability: No application fee.
• Subject to registration, candidates have to fill a Consent Form and pay a refundable deposit to appear in the Preliminary Test.
• Deposit for Unreserved category: Rs. 500
• Deposit for Women / SEBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwD / Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 400
• The deposit is refunded to candidates who appear in the exam after paying the fee with the consent form.

Selection Process

The selection is a two-stage Direct Recruitment process:

1. Preliminary Examination (300 marks, 180 minutes): Part-A General Studies — 100 questions for 100 marks (60 minutes). Part-B Concerned Subject (Statistics) — 200 questions for 200 marks (120 minutes). The exam is objective (MCQ) based.
2. Interview (100 marks): Candidates who clear the prelim will be called for interview.

Final merit: 50% weightage of Preliminary Marks + 50% weightage of Interview Marks. To qualify for interview, you must score at least 10% of total marks in the Preliminary Test (special relaxation for PwD candidates).

2. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR), if not done already.
3. Fill in the online application form for Advt. No. 11/2026-27.
4. Upload your photograph, signature and required documents.
5. Pay the Consent Form deposit (refundable) when called for the exam.
6. Submit the form and take a printout for your records.
7. Online application window: 05 May 2026 (13:00 hrs) to 19 May 2026 (23:59 hrs).
