PRL Library and ITI Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview

Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), a unit of the Department of Space, is running a traineeship and apprenticeship programme at Navrangpura in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The notice brings library training and technical trades into the same recruitment exercise. You would join as a temporary trainee at the research laboratory, with conditions that are separate from those of its regular staff.

Posts and Disciplines

• Library Trainee: the library and information science stream, with its own application form attached to the notice.
• ITI Technical Trainees: the technical stream covers Turner, Machinist, Plumber, Carpenter and Electrician trades. The technical application form has a space for your trade, so use the form that matches this stream.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training period: the programme runs for one year. The engagement is temporary and does not offer permanent absorption in PRL.
• Staff status: trainees are not treated as regular employees. Joining this programme gives you no right to seek absorption or regularisation at the laboratory.
• Schedule changes: PRL plans to finish the walk-in exercise on the scheduled day. If unforeseen circumstances prevent this, you may need to return the next day.
• Test-day restrictions: electronic devices are not allowed during the skill test. This includes mobile phones, laptops, storage devices, cameras and smart watches.
• Administrative conditions: PRL can cancel the announced exercise. Incomplete applications can be rejected, and the laboratory will not handle interim correspondence about them.
