Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), under the Department of Space, Government of India, is offering a Telescope Operator Trainee programme at its Mount Abu Infrared Observatory in Rajasthan. The engagement gives you practical exposure to an astronomical observatory, with training linked to its scientific and technical activities. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training period: The programme lasts one year. It is an opportunity to gain practical observatory experience during a defined training period.
• Employment status: The traineeship does not create a right to permanent appointment at PRL or any of its observatories. Trainees do not have the same status as regular employees of the Mount Abu Infrared Observatory.
• No regularisation claim: Completing the programme does not give you a basis to claim absorption or regularisation. The notice applies this condition to claims made either directly or indirectly.
• Travel support: Shortlisted candidates travelling from outside Mount Abu can claim return travel by the shortest route stated in their online form. Reimbursement is limited to railway sleeper-class or ordinary bus fare and depends on producing ticket copies.
• Possible extra day: PRL aims to finish the skill test on its scheduled day, but unexpected delays may mean you need to attend again the following day. Keep this possibility in mind when making travel arrangements.
• Changes to the process: The observatory can cancel the announced skill-test process. The notice also says that PRL will not respond to interim correspondence about applications.

Reporting venue: Registered applicants must report to the Main Gate, Physical Research Laboratory, Hill View Bungalow, Gora Chhapara, Mount Abu, Sirohi-307501, Rajasthan. This is the address specified for completing the in-person verification.

Reporting window: Arrive between 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM on the scheduled test day. If you report after 11:30 AM, you will not be allowed to take the skill test.
