GPSC is hiring 200 Assistant Engineer (Civil), Class-2 posts in the Road and Building Department under Gujarat Engineering Service. Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advertisement No. 24/2026-27 for Assistant Engineer (Civil), Gujarat Engineering Service, Class-II, under the Road and Building Department. The application window is open from 05 June 2026 to 19 June 2026. Civil Engineering graduates can apply online through the GPSC OJAS portal. This is a large state engineering recruitment with 67 women-reserved posts, 8 PwD reserved posts and a preliminary test schedule already mentioned in the notice.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil) or Bachelor's degree in Technology (Civil).
• Recognised institution: Your degree must be from a university established under a Central/State Act in India, or another recognised/deemed university under the UGC Act.
• Computer knowledge: You must have basic computer application knowledge as required under Gujarat Civil Services rules.
• Language: You must know Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Experience: The notification does not ask for prior work experience.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 20 years
• Maximum age: 35 years
• Age will be counted on the last date for receiving online applications, which is 19 June 2026.
• Gujarat EWS/SEBC/SC/ST male candidates: 5 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• General women candidates of Gujarat origin: 5 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• Gujarat EWS/SEBC/SC/ST women candidates: 10 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• Ex-servicemen: Length of military service plus 3 years.
• PwD candidates: 10 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.

Salary

• Pay Level: Level 8
• Pay band: Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules.

Application Fee

• General / Unreserved candidates: Rs. 100 plus applicable postal or service charges.
• Reserved categories of Gujarat, EWS of Gujarat, ex-servicemen and PwD candidates: No fee.
• Reserved-category candidates from other states must pay the prescribed fee.
• Payment mode: Online payment or Post Office payment as allowed by GPSC.

Selection Process

The selection has Preliminary Test and Interview stages.

1. Preliminary Test - General Studies: Paper of 100 marks with 60 minutes duration. The tentative date is 26 July 2026.
2. Preliminary Test - Concerned Subject: Civil Engineering paper of 200 marks with 120 minutes duration. The tentative date is 30 August 2026.
3. Interview: Candidates are called as per GPSC norms. For 4 or more vacancies, GPSC may call 3 times the number of posts or 20 candidates, whichever is higher.
4. Document Verification: You must upload or produce certificates when GPSC asks for them.

For the preliminary examination, GPSC also requires consent and consent deposit during the stated window. If your university mark sheet does not show percentage, keep the percentage calculation formula ready for document checking.

You need at least 15% marks in the Preliminary Test to be considered for the interview stage.
