The Office of the Registrar, Gauhati University, Guwahati-14, has released recruitment notification NTS-5/2026 for contractual appointment of various categories of Multitasking Assistants. The engagement is purely temporary for an initial period of 1 year, renewable on performance review. The 27 posts cover Multitasking Assistant (General), Lab, Finance, Technical, IT, Audio Visual, Studio, Kala-Kristi Kendra, and Anthropology. Selected candidates cannot claim any regular appointment in the University against any permanent post.

Who Can Apply?

Multitasking Assistant (General) - Rs. 21,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline (except Fine Arts) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade
• Minimum 6 months certificate course on Computer Application
• Uniform academic career required

Multitasking Assistant (Lab) - Rs. 21,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Geography, Zoology, Botany or any relevant discipline with 55% marks
• 6 months certificate course on Computer Application

Multitasking Assistant (Finance) - Rs. 21,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce with 55% marks + 6 months computer course
• Desirable: Working knowledge of Tally ERP and six months accounting experience

Multitasking Assistant (Technical) - Rs. 22,000/month

• 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Desirable: One year experience in civil construction work

Multitasking Assistant (IT) - Rs. 22,000/month

• 3-year Diploma in IT / CSE or relevant discipline with computer application knowledge
• Proficiency in preparing analytical reports required
• Desirable: Python, SQL, data analysis and statistical analysis tools

Multitasking Assistant (Audio Visual / Studio) - Rs. 22,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in Science / Engineering / Audio-Visual Technology / Media / Audio-Visual Production or any relevant technical discipline (OR ITI in Television Technology and Audio System for AV)
• Candidates from other backgrounds may apply with demonstrable hands-on experience
• Preferred: Camera, audio visual and recording device handling

Multitasking Assistant (Kala-Kristi Kendra) - Rs. 21,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Proficiency in Sattriya culture and tradition practices
• Preferred: Sattriya dance, drama, Nam-kirtan, Gayan-Bayan, Borgeet performance

Multitasking Assistant (Anthropology) - Rs. 21,000/month

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• Preferred: Ability to handle all tasks associated with the department (mainly museum)

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 21 years on the last date of application
• Maximum age: 45 years on the last date of application
• Age relaxation: Maximum 2 years relaxation for candidates with experience in the field

Salary

• Multitasking Assistant (General / Lab / Finance / Kala-Kristi Kendra / Anthropology): Rs. 21,000 per month
• Multitasking Assistant (Technical / IT / Audio Visual / Studio): Rs. 22,000 per month
• This is a consolidated contractual pay — no separate DA/HRA

• Submit the e-generated payment receipt along with the hard copy of the application

Selection Process

Selection is done in three stages based on academic qualification, skill test, and interview:

1. First Shortlisting: Based on academic credentials from Class X onwards till graduation. Shortlisted candidates are called for the skill test
2. Skill Test / Written Test: Conducted to assess job-specific skills
3. Personal Interview: Final shortlisting based on the combined score of academic credentials and skill test/written test

Mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria does not entitle you to be called for the interview. Gauhati University reserves the right to short-list candidates.
