DRDO ITI Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment at Avadi, is offering ITI apprenticeship training in the workshops and support units that serve combat-vehicle research. This is practical training under the Apprentices Act, not a regular civil post, and it gives recent trade-pass candidates exposure to a defence research establishment. The drive covers shop-floor, electrical, computer, drafting and service trades, so you should attend for the trade shown on your ITI certificate. Completing the apprenticeship does not create a right to employment with DRDO.

Posts and Disciplines

• Computer operations: COPA trainees support routine programming, data handling and office computer work, while computer-networking trainees assist with basic connectivity and system upkeep.
• Mechanical drafting: Draughtsman trainees work with engineering drawings and the records used by design and production teams.
• Electrical work: Electrician trainees learn safe installation, testing and maintenance practices within the establishment.
• Fitting and machining: Fitter, Machinist and Turner trainees gain workshop exposure around component preparation, measurement and machine operations.
• Vehicle maintenance: Motor Vehicle Mechanic trainees assist with inspection and maintenance work connected with vehicles and workshop equipment.
• Fabrication: Welder, Sheet Metal Worker and Plumber trainees support fabrication, joining and utility-maintenance activities.
• Electronics: Electronics Mechanic trainees work around electronic assemblies, test equipment and basic fault checks.
• Digital manufacturing: CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer trainees support drawing-to-machine workflows under technical supervision.
• Documentation and imaging: Photographer and Book Binder trainees help produce, organise and preserve visual and printed records.
• Other trades: Painter, Computer and Peripherals Hardware Repair, and Food Production trainees are placed with the unit relevant to their certified trade.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training status: this engagement is governed by apprenticeship rules and does not guarantee a DRDO job after training.
• Registration: your NCVT/SCVT MIS registration must be valid and available for checking during the walk-in and document review.
• Recent qualification: only the qualifying batches named in the notice are accepted, and the result must have been declared by the stated cut-off.
• Regular study: the notice accepts candidates who completed the qualifying trade as regular students.
• Certificates: an expired OBC certificate is not accepted; final NCVT/SCVT certification must be produced when available.
• Joining check: finally selected trainees must provide a valid police-verification certificate from their last or permanent address.

Application Submission Notes

This is a walk-in recruitment at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai. Carry your trade and registration records to the notified venue during the walk-in window; the establishment will check them before the interview. Selection status is communicated at the venue, and candidates chosen for training may receive their joining letter there. There is no separate online application link in the notice.
