Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Public Health Department is filling Group D Multi-Purpose Worker posts — Sweeper (Safai Kamgar) and Gardener-cum-Sweeper (Mali-Nisafai Kamgar) — at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Prasuti Griha, a maternity hospital under the K/South ward in Marol, Andheri (East), Mumbai. Both roles are covered under one 179-day contract engagement arranged through a registered labour cooperative society empanelled by the corporation, rather than a direct BMC appointment. Only an empanelled society can bid for this contract — workers are taken onto the winning society's rolls, so candidates should register with such a society to be considered. Selected workers will support the hospital's day-to-day patient care by helping with meals, escorting patients for check-ups, and keeping the wards clean.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Engagement mode: Workers are placed by a registered labour cooperative society on a service contract; this is not a direct BMC appointment. Only societies such as a majoor sahakari sanstha, seva sahakari sanstha, unemployed-workers' seva sahakari sanstha, industrial seva sahakari sanstha, or an NGO/bachat gat formed to provide employment to its members can bid.
• Wages: The empanelled society is paid per worker per day as per the Labour Commissioner's prevailing circular, and must credit each worker's share to their bank account through ECS, NEFT or RTGS — it cannot pay in cash.
• Duty days: Duty continues on Sundays and public holidays since the hospital runs every day of the week.
• Identity and uniform: The society must issue an identity card and uniform to every worker, who must wear the identity card throughout duty hours.
• Language requirement: Workers must have studied Marathi as a subject in their SSC (Class 10) examination.
• Compliance: The empanelled society must hold valid registrations under the Contract Labour Act, the EPF Act and the ESIC scheme, and must ensure no child labour is engaged at the work site.

Only a registered labour cooperative society can submit a sealed letter of interest for this contract, at the Medical Officer's office, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Prasuti Griha, Marol-Moroshi Road, Marol Naka, Andheri (East), Mumbai. Individual candidates cannot apply to BMC directly — an interested worker should get in touch with an empanelled society, which verifies the worker's SSC certificate and age proof before including them on the list submitted to the hospital's administrative office. A society whose past work has been unsatisfactory to the corporation, or which is on the corporation's blacklist, is not eligible to bid.

• Handle day-to-day ward cleaning and housekeeping across the maternity hospital
• Serve tea, milk, meals and other refreshments to patients
• Change and wash soiled bedsheets, and assist patients with bathing when needed
