APPSC Forest Range Officer Recruitment 2026

You take 4 objective papers carrying 600 marks in total, plus a separate qualifying language paper. The scheme is at degree standard except where SSC standard is specified.

• General English and General Telugu: 100 questions, 100 marks, 100 minutes, at SSC standard. Each language carries 50 marks; you must qualify in both separately.
• Paper I, General Studies and Mental Ability: 150 questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes. Topics include current affairs, science, history, geography, polity, economy, environment, disasters, reasoning and data analysis.
• Paper II, Mathematics: 150 questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes, at SSC standard.
• Paper III, General Forestry I: 150 questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes. Covers natural resources, plant science, biodiversity, soils, water management and silviculture.
• Paper IV, General Forestry II: 150 questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes. Covers ecosystems, wildlife, forest protection, utilisation, administration, inventory, surveying and first aid.

Negative marking: Each wrong answer loses 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question.

Exam format: The notice specifies a single-level computer-based recruitment test (CBRT), with no screening test regardless of application numbers. APPSC may normalise marks if the examination runs in multiple sessions; the method will be announced separately.

Further assessments: The Forest Department arranges a walking test and Medical Board examination with APPSC concurrence. The shortlisting ratio is 1:3 against vacancies. The qualifying computer test also uses a 1:3 ratio.

Computer Proficiency Test

The practical office-automation test carries 100 marks, and you get 60 minutes. Minimum qualifying marks are 30 for SC/ST/PBD, 35 for BC and 40 for OC.

• Computer fundamentals: 20% of marks; this part may use multiple-choice questions.
• Typing speed: 25%; qualifying treatment follows the applicable norms.
• Document organisation and objects: 15%.
• Spreadsheets: 20%.
• Presentations: 20%.
