APPSC Asst Environmental Engineer 2026 — 40 Vacancies

The degree-standard written examination uses objective questions in computer-based recruitment test (CBRT) mode. There is no screening test, regardless of application numbers.

Written Papers

• Paper I - General Studies and Mental Ability: 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes.
• Paper II - Common Subject: 150 questions, 300 marks and 150 minutes.
• Total: 300 questions for 450 marks, with 300 minutes across the papers.

Negative marking: Each wrong answer loses 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question. If APPSC holds the exam in multiple sessions, it may normalise marks where necessary; it will announce the method separately.

Paper I Topics

• Current affairs: International, national and Andhra Pradesh events and issues.
• General science: Everyday science and developments in science, technology and information technology.
• History and geography: Indian history, the national movement, and Indian geography with attention to Andhra Pradesh.
• Governance and economy: The Constitution, public policy, reforms, electronic governance, the Indian economy and planning.
• Environment and disasters: Sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, remote sensing and geographic information systems.
• Mental ability: Logical reasoning, analysis, data interpretation and basic statistics.

Paper II Topics

• Ecosystems: Structure, food webs, energy flow, biogeochemical cycles and carrying capacity.
• Natural resources: Water, minerals, land, forests and energy resources.
• Biodiversity: Diversity, conservation, threats and biological resources.
• Engineering materials: Properties, phase diagrams, heat treatment and stress-strain behaviour.
• Fluid mechanics and hydraulics: Fluid properties, pressure, pipe flow, flow equations and similarity.
• Process calculations and thermodynamics: Mass and energy balances, recycle and bypass calculations, and thermodynamic laws.
• Pollution control: Air, water, soil and noise pollution, treatment methods and control technologies.
• Waste management: Municipal and industrial waste, electronic waste and bioremediation.
• Environmental policy: Global environmental problems, agreements and Indian environmental legislation.
• Environmental impact assessment: Baseline data, impact and risk assessment, environmental management plans and sustainable development.

Computer Proficiency Test

You get 60 minutes for a practical office-automation test carrying 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 30 for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and persons with benchmark disabilities (SC/ST/PBD), 35 for Backward Classes (BC), and 40 for Open Category (OC).

• Part A - Computer concepts: 20% of marks; may use multiple-choice questions on hardware, software, operating systems, files, internet, email and the web.
• Typing and document work: Typing-speed assessment carries 25%; qualifying typing norms may be applied. No fixed words-per-minute requirement is stated.
• Document organisation and objects: 15%, including arranging content and inserting objects.
• Spreadsheets: 20%, covering data entry, formatting, formulas and graphs.
• Presentations: 20%, covering slides, text, images, tables, transitions and animation.

Office software: The syllabus covers Microsoft Office or equivalent open-source office software, including LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice.
