AIIMS Nagpur Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur is recruiting Senior Residents under the Government of India Residency Scheme. The institute combines tertiary patient care with medical teaching and research at its MIHAN campus, so the role gives you supervised specialist work in an academic hospital. This is a whole-time tenure appointment, not a permanent faculty position, and you cannot take private practice or another paid assignment while serving.

Posts and Disciplines

• Medicine and allied specialties: General Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Medical Gastroenterology, Medical Haematology, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology and Pulmonary Medicine cover ward, clinic and specialty-care work.
• Surgery and allied specialties: Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Surgical Gastroenterology and Trauma and Emergency involve peri-operative and emergency responsibilities.
• Diagnostics and laboratory services: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Nuclear Medicine, Radio-diagnosis, Radiotherapy and Transfusion Medicine support diagnosis, imaging, treatment planning and blood-bank services.
• Maternal, child and sensory care: Paediatrics, Neonatology, ENT and Ophthalmology focus on age-specific and specialty clinical services.
• Academic and institutional services: Anatomy, Physiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Hospital Administration and Anaesthesiology combine service delivery with teaching or hospital operations.

Post-wise Duties

Clinical Senior Residents

You will assess patients, plan treatment with faculty, manage ward and emergency work, and maintain clear clinical records. In procedure-based departments, you will assist with or perform approved procedures under the department's supervision.

Diagnostic Senior Residents

You will review samples, images or treatment data, prepare accurate diagnostic reports, and coordinate findings with the treating team. You may also help maintain quality and safety standards within the laboratory or imaging unit.

Pre-clinical and Community Medicine Senior Residents

You will support practical teaching, departmental work and academic activities while contributing to research, field programmes or institutional assignments relevant to your specialty.

Hospital Administration Senior Residents

You will help coordinate patient services, records, quality processes and daily hospital operations under faculty supervision, with attention to timely communication across departments.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The residency can run for a maximum of three years under the applicable Government of India scheme.
• Shortlisting: If the response is large, the institute may shortlist by qualifications, additional qualifications and experience, or use a written test before interview.
• Vacancy position: The notified seats are provisional and may change under Government of India reservation rules and institutional needs.
• Category certificates: OBC applicants need a valid non-creamy-layer certificate for Central Government employment, while EWS applicants need the prescribed income and asset certificate.
• Appointment check: Any offer remains provisional until the institute checks your educational and personal credentials.
• Interview logistics: The interview may continue on the next day, and the notice does not provide travel or daily allowance for attending it.
• Exit condition: The engagement may be ended by either side with one month's notice or the corresponding salary, subject to the residency terms.
