All India Institute of Medical Sciences Guwahati (AIIMS Guwahati) is engaging Senior Residents and Senior Demonstrators across its clinical, surgical, diagnostic and pre-clinical departments at Changsari, Assam. The institute is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and was developed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana to strengthen tertiary care and postgraduate medical training in the region. These are tenure posts under the Central Residency Scheme, so the work combines supervised patient care, teaching and departmental service rather than a permanent faculty appointment.

Posts and Disciplines

• Clinical medicine: General Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonary Medicine, Paediatrics, Neonatology and related services involve ward, outpatient and emergency care.
• Surgical services: General Surgery, CTVS, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatric Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology and Urology focus on peri-operative care and supervised procedures.
• Women and emergency care: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anaesthesiology, Trauma and Emergency Medicine support round-the-clock hospital services and critical care.
• Diagnostics and laboratories: Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Transfusion Medicine support diagnosis, reporting, quality control and clinical teams.

Post-wise Duties

Clinical Senior Resident

You will work with the department's consultants on patient assessment, treatment planning, ward rounds and emergency coverage. Depending on the specialty, your role may also include procedures, operation-theatre support, discharge planning and case discussions with junior doctors.

Diagnostic and Laboratory Resident

You will help process and interpret clinical samples, imaging studies or blood-bank work, keep records accurate and flag urgent findings to the treating team. Quality checks, safe handling and teaching demonstrations form an important part of these departments.

Senior Demonstrator

You will support practical teaching, laboratory demonstrations and student assessment in the relevant basic-science discipline. The role also involves preparing teaching material, helping with departmental research and keeping academic or laboratory records current.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement is governed by the Central Residency Scheme and can run for a maximum of three years; it does not create a claim to a permanent post.
• Department choice: You may seek more than one notified department, but a separate form and the applicable fee are needed for each choice.
• Reservation: Government of India reservation rules apply, including horizontal reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities. The department-wise positions are provisional and may change with institute needs.
