AIIMS Bathinda Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda is engaging Counsellors for its Addiction Treatment Facility in the Department of Psychiatry. The facility works under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, supported by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and coordinated by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre at AIIMS New Delhi. This is a project-linked contractual engagement, so the role suits psychology professionals who want direct experience in a hospital-based addiction-care programme.

The Counsellor will work within a clinical team serving people who need assessment, guidance and continuing support for substance-use problems. Patient confidentiality and careful record handling are central to the assignment, and the post may involve work outside normal office hours when the project needs it. The Institute can shortlist applicants by considering their education, relevant experience and overall suitability before calling them for the walk-in process.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The initial contract runs for one year or until the project continues, whichever is earlier. Any extension depends on satisfactory performance, available funds and continuation of the scheme.
  • No claim to a regular post: This engagement does not create a right to permanent absorption or continued contractual employment at AIIMS Bathinda.
  • Notice: An appointee who leaves must give one month’s notice or pay salary for the part of the notice period not served.
  • Working arrangements: Institute hours apply, but project work may require duty beyond office hours, on weekends or on holidays.
  • Reporting: The contractual staff member reports to the Nodal Officer or Principal Investigator of the Addiction Treatment Facility, or another officer authorised by AIIMS Bathinda.
  • Confidentiality: You must protect patient information, official records, research data and administrative material during the contract and after it ends.
  • Leave and benefits: Project-employee leave rules apply. No increment or regular DA, HRA or transport allowance is included unless the funding agency specifically approves it.
  • Interview travel: AIIMS Bathinda will not provide TA, DA or accommodation. The interview may continue on the next day if many applicants attend.
  • Termination: The Institute may end the engagement for unsatisfactory performance, misconduct, withdrawal of the project, lack of funds, reduced need or false information in the application.
