Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) Senior Administrative Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), a subordinate office under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), has released a vacancy circular for 1 Senior Administrative Officer post at its headquarters in Kolkata. The post belongs to the General Central Service, Group 'A', Gazetted, Ministerial cadre. This recruitment is for serving Government officers only — it is filled by deputation plus promotion, not by open competition. The selected officer will be the overall head of the administrative affairs of the Survey.

Who Can Apply?

This post is open to officers of the Central Government, State Government or Union Territories who meet both the service and education conditions below.

Service Condition (any one)

• You must be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department, OR
• You must have 5 years of service in Level-10 of the pay matrix (or equivalent) after regular appointment.

Educational and Experience Condition (essential)

• A Degree from a recognized University or Institution, AND
• 5 years of experience in Accounts, Administration or Establishment work in a Government office, PSU, Autonomous Body or Statutory Body.

The departmental administrative officer in Level-10 with 5 years' regular service in the grade will also be considered along with outsiders. If selected, the post will be deemed filled by promotion.

Age Limit

• Maximum age for appointment by deputation: 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications.

Salary

• You will be placed in Pay Level-11 of the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• The pay range is Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• Pay, allowances and tenure for deputation officers are governed by DoPT rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on:

1. Screening of Bio-data: Applications with complete bio-data (in triplicate), ACRs/APARs and required certificates are reviewed by the Selection Committee.
2. Suitability Assessment: The committee assesses your essential qualification and work experience for the post.

There is no written exam for this post — selection is by composite method (deputation plus promotion).
