Wildlife Institute of India Scientist Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts
Wildlife Institute of India (WII), an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has issued Advertisement No. WII/ADM/2026-27/05/56 for deputation appointment of officers to Scientist-D/E/F/G levels. Who Can Apply?
IFS, SFS and Central Group-A Officers
- All India Services / Central Group-A Services: Officers from All India Services or other Central Group-A Services in the Government of India can be considered for deputation at Scientist-D/E/F/G levels.
- State Forest Service: SFS officers with a Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management from WII and at least 10 years regular service can apply. Out of this, 5 years should be in wildlife and protected area management.
Scientists, Faculty and Veterinary Officers
- Scientists / Wildlife Biologists: Officers working in Central or State Government, recognised research institutions, semi-government, statutory or autonomous bodies funded by the Government of India need at least 8 years regular service for Scientist-D/E/F levels.
- University Faculty: Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors with at least 8 years regular service can apply for Scientist-D/E/F levels.
- Veterinary / Wildlife Health: Scientists, wildlife biologists or veterinary officers with M.V.Sc. and at least 4 years regular service in wildlife health and management can apply for Scientist-D/E/F levels.
- Scientist-F/G desirable experience: For the post likely at WII-SACON, Coimbatore, the notice mentions 14 years regular service for Scientist-F and 18 years regular service for Scientist-G, with 5 years in wildlife management, research or training.
Preferred background: Experience in wildlife and protected area management, research, conservation education, ecodevelopment planning and participatory management will help your application. Salary

- Scientist-G: Pay Matrix Level 14, starting at Rs. 1,44,200 per month plus allowances.
- Allowances: DA, HRA, deputation allowance or training allowance, and other benefits will apply as per Government of India and WII rules.
Accommodation and facilities: Residential accommodation may be allotted as per WII rules, subject to availability. If accommodation is not available, HRA will be admissible as per rules.
