WCD Assam District Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Women & Child Development Department, Government of Assam has released a recruitment notification for 1 District Project Assistant post under the POSHAN Abhiyaan State Project Management Unit (SPMU). The engagement is purely temporary and contractual and does not create any claim for permanent government service. Local candidates of Tinsukia district will be preferred for the post. POSHAN Abhiyaan is the Government of India's flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers — the DPA helps run this mission at the district level.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • You must have a Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in any of the following disciplines:
    • Management
    • Social Sciences
    • Nutrition

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in capacity building with supervisory skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills in local language (Assamese) and fair skills in English
  • Good computer skills, internet, and email knowledge
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to travel extensively for field work

Preferred Experience

  • 3 years of experience working in social programmes
  • Experience working on Government programmes in social sector — Health, Nutrition, Education, Water and Sanitation

Other Requirements

  • Mandatorily local candidates of Tinsukia district should be engaged
  • Existing employees under POSHAN Abhiyaan are exempted from age restrictions
  • You must be willing to travel extensively across blocks within the district

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 38 years
  • Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of Assam rules
  • Existing employees under POSHAN Abhiyaan are exempted from age restrictions

Salary

  • Fixed monthly remuneration of Rs. 18,000 per month
  • An annual increase of 3% of remuneration may be granted, subject to performance
  • The post is purely contractual and does not include other government allowances
  • No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the selection process

Selection Process

Selection is based on a combined score out of 100 marks across four stages:

  1. Assessment Marks: 10 marks (based on your qualification and experience)
  2. Written Examination: 60 marks
  3. Computer Skill Test: 20 marks
  4. Viva Voce (Interview): 10 marks

The final merit list is prepared based on total marks scored across all four components. The candidate with the highest score will be selected. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing POSHAN Abhiyaan activities at the district level
  • Support capacity building and training of Anganwadi workers and supervisors
  • Monitor nutrition and health intervention programmes in the district
  • Prepare progress reports, data records, and field visit documentation
  • Coordinate with District Social Welfare Office, block officials, and field staff
  • Travel extensively for field-level supervision and quality checks
  • Handle data entry into POSHAN Tracker and other MIS portals
  • Assist in organising community awareness camps and Jan Andolan activities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Social Sciences, or Nutrition

Preferred Qualification

3 years experience in social programmes; experience in Government social sector programmes (Health, Nutrition, Education, Water and Sanitation)

Required Skills

Capacity building, supervisory skills, communication in Assamese and English, computer literacy, internet/email, teamwork, field travel

21 - 38 years
