Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 for 16 vacancies across three posts: Assistant Keeper, Senior Store Officer Grade-II, and Livestock Officer. UPSC Recruitment 2026 (Advt No. 02/2026) - 16 Posts
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications for direct recruitment to 16 posts across three different ministries and departments. These are permanent Central Government positions under the General Central Service. Selection is through interview (a Recruitment Test may be held if applications are large). Who Can Apply?
1. Assistant Keeper (Anthropological Survey of India)
- Qualification: Master's Degree in Anthropology from a recognized university
- Additional: Diploma in Museology from a recognized university or institute
- Desirable: At least 1 year experience in handling, maintaining, and preserving specimens in a recognized museum
- Headquarters: Kolkata (All India Service Liability)
2. Senior Store Officer Grade-II (DRDO)
- Educational Qualification (Option A): Master's Degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Business Studies, or Public Administration
- Educational Qualification (Option B): Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Business Studies, or Public Administration plus Diploma in Materials Management, Warehousing Management, Purchasing, Logistics, or Public Procurement
- Experience (with Master's): 2 years in store keeping and maintaining stores accounts in Central/State Government, PSU, university, recognized institution, bank, or listed private company
- Experience (with Bachelor's + Diploma): 4 years in store keeping and maintaining stores accounts in the above organizations
- Headquarters: DRDO HQ, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi (All India Service Liability)
3. Livestock Officer (Dept of Animal Husbandry & Dairying)
- Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (as per Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984)
- Registration: Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of India or State Veterinary Council
- Experience: 3 years in Cattle and Livestock Development, Animal Health, Poultry, or Meat and Meat Products from Central/State Government, UT Administration, statutory body, or recognized institute
- Desirable: Master's Degree in Veterinary Science, or 2 years additional experience in the above fields
- Headquarters: New Delhi (All India Service Liability)
Age Limit
- Assistant Keeper: Maximum 30 years for UR candidates
- Senior Store Officer Grade-II: Maximum 35 years for UR/EWS, 38 years for OBC, 40 years for SC, 45 years for PwBD
- Livestock Officer: Maximum 35 years for EWS, 38 years for OBC, 40 years for SC/ST
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 years, OBC candidates get up to 3 years, PwBD candidates get up to 10 years relaxation over the base age limit
- Ex-Servicemen: Up to 5 years relaxation as per government rules
- Central Government employees: Up to 5 years relaxation (with 3 years continuous service)
- Age is calculated as on the closing date of online application (01 May 2026)
Salary
- Assistant Keeper: Pay Level 7 - Rs. 44,900 per month (entry basic pay) under 7th CPC. Group B, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
- Senior Store Officer Grade-II: Pay Level 10 - Rs. 56,100 per month (entry basic pay) under 7th CPC. Group A, Gazetted, Ministerial.
- Livestock Officer: Pay Level 10 plus NPA - Rs. 56,100 per month (entry basic pay) plus Non-Practising Allowance under 7th CPC. Group A, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
- All posts are governed by the New Pension Scheme (NPS) of 01/01/2004.

Selection Process
Selection is primarily through interview:
- Shortlisting: If the number of applications is large, UPSC may hold a Recruitment Test (RT) or use shortlisting criteria based on desirable qualifications, higher qualifications, or higher experience.
- Interview / Personality Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Minimum marks for suitability: UR - 50 marks, OBC - 45 marks, SC/ST/PH - 40 marks (out of 100).
- Document Verification: You need to bring printout of your online application along with original documents at the time of interview.

Responsibilities
- Organize and develop the Regional Anthropological Museum and undertake field collection and studies (Assistant Keeper)
- Assist Senior Stores Officer-I in managing stores, floating tender enquiries, and preparing comparative statements (Senior Store Officer)
- Handle vendor evaluation, registration, and disposal of obsolete stores (Senior Store Officer)
- Assist in livestock health schemes run by State Government agencies across India (Livestock Officer)
- Work on policy and planning for livestock health-related issues at the national level (Livestock Officer)
- Handle Parliament Questions and Assurances related to livestock health (Livestock Officer)
- Coordinate with international bodies like OIE, APHCA, and FAO on livestock health policy (Livestock Officer)

Possible Recruitment Test (if applications are large)
