University of Ladakh (UoL) Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 38 Posts

University of Ladakh has released Advertisement Notice No. 01 of 2026 for 38 regular Assistant Professor posts spread across the School of Science, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Language and Literature, and School of Commerce and Management. Most posts are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates under the UT Ladakh Reservation Rules, reflecting the region's local recruitment priorities. Fresh Ph.D. holders, NET/SLET/SET qualified candidates, and experienced teaching professionals from any Indian or accredited foreign university can apply. There is no written exam — selection is based on a screening followed by an interview. Category-wise reservation: UR: 1, ST: 32, ALC: 1, EWS: 4, PwBD (horizontal): 1. The vacancy reserved for EWS, if a suitable candidate is not available, will be treated as unreserved — so non-EWS candidates can also apply for that post.

Who Can Apply?

Path A: A Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned subject from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, plus a cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR or a similar UGC-accredited test, or a Ph.D. awarded as per applicable UGC Regulations.

Path B: A Ph.D. from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) world rankings.

• SC/ST/ALC candidates must submit a domicile certificate as per the prescribed UT Ladakh format.
• A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) applies to SC/ST/ALC/PwBD candidates at the Master's level, and to Ph.D. holders who obtained their Master's degree before 19 September 1991.
• If you are already in government service, you must apply through the proper channel and produce a No Objection Certificate and Vigilance Clearance Certificate at the time of interview.
• Your qualifications and experience will be counted as on the closing date of the online application — anything acquired after that date will not be considered.
• If your degree nomenclature differs from the advertised subject, the Screening Committee will decide equivalence as per applicable UGC norms, and the University's decision is final.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month under Academic Level-10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per University of Ladakh rules.

• Payment mode: Online only. The fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable under all circumstances.
• You need a separate application and fee payment for each post/subject you apply for.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Screening: Your academic record is scored on Graduation, Post-Graduation, M.Phil/Ph.D., NET/JRF/SLET/SET, research publications, teaching/post-doctoral experience and awards. This score is used only to shortlist candidates for interview.
2. Interview: Final selection is based solely on your performance in the interview.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Mere possession of the minimum qualification does not entitle you to be called for interview — the University may set a higher shortlisting criterion. Interview call letters are sent only by email to shortlisted candidates.

Once selected, you will be placed on probation for one year in the first instance, must produce a medical fitness certificate, and your appointment will be subject to satisfactory police verification of character and antecedents. Canvassing in any form will disqualify your candidature, and any dispute arising from this recruitment falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
