Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has released advertisement number 75/2026 for 72 Group 'C' posts of Vehicle Driver (Vahan Chalak) and Enforcement Driver (Pravartan Chalak) across 15 departments in Uttarakhand. This includes 70 Vehicle Driver posts in departments like State Tax, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Prison Administration, and various District Magistrate offices, plus 2 Enforcement Driver posts in the Transport Department. 8th pass candidates with a valid driving license can apply for these non-gazetted posts.

Who Can Apply?

For Vehicle Driver (UKSLSA, Nainital — 1 post):

  • Qualification: You must have passed Class 8 from a recognised institution.
  • Driving License: You need a valid heavy or light vehicle driving license, obtained at least 3 years before the notification date.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of professional driving experience.

For Vehicle Driver (All Other Departments — 69 posts):

  • Qualification: You must have passed Class 8 from a recognised institution.
  • Driving License: You need a valid heavy or light vehicle driving license under Rule 16 of the Employment Office, with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Note: For NCSC Department, you must hold both heavy and light vehicle driving licenses.

For Enforcement Driver (Transport Department — 2 posts):

  • Qualification: You must have passed Class 8 from a recognised institution.
  • Driving License: You need a valid heavy or light transport vehicle driving license with at least 3 years of experience.

Domicile: You must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand with a valid domicile certificate. You should have completed your High School and Intermediate education from institutions in Uttarakhand.

Preferred Qualifications (for extra merit):

  • High School certificate from UP/Uttarakhand Board of Education
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics
  • Minimum 2 years of service in the Territorial Army
  • NCC 'C' or 'B' Certificate

Age Limit

  • Vehicle Driver (UKSLSA, Nainital) & Enforcement Driver: 18 to 42 years as on 01 July 2026. You should be born between 02 July 1984 and 01 July 2008.
  • Vehicle Driver (All other departments): 21 to 42 years as on 01 July 2026. You should be born between 02 July 1984 and 01 July 2005.
  • Age Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (Uttarakhand): Up to 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.
  • Uttarakhand Domicile (all categories): Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen (Uttarakhand): Relaxation as per actual military service + 3 years additional.
  • Freedom Fighters' Dependents: Up to 5 years relaxation.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month under Pay Level-03.
  • You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Uttarakhand Government rules.
  • Post nature: Non-gazetted, Temporary/Permanent with Contributory Pension.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

  1. Written Exam (25 marks): 25 MCQ questions on vehicle driving knowledge and general knowledge. You will get 30 minutes to complete it. Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for General/OBC, 35% for SC/ST. The exam can be held offline (OMR-based) or online.
  2. Driving Test (75 marks): Candidates who pass the written exam will be called for a practical driving test. 6 times the number of vacancies will be called for this test. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for all categories (Unreserved, SC, ST, OBC, EWS).
  3. Document Verification: Final merit list is prepared based on combined marks of written exam and driving test.

  • Maintain the assigned vehicle in clean and working condition at all times
  • Keep a log book of daily trips, fuel consumption, and mileage records

  • Assist with loading and unloading of official goods and materials when needed
  • Report any vehicle breakdowns or accidents to the concerned officer immediately
  • Handle basic vehicle maintenance like checking oil, water, tyre pressure, and battery
