Deoghar Home Guard Recruitment 2026: Overview
Jharkhand Home Guard (Griha Raksha Vahini), Deoghar has opened fresh enrolment of Rural and Urban Home Guards for Deoghar district under Advertisement No. 01/2026. The enrolment committee is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar, with the Superintendent of Police and the District Commandant as members, and it follows the Home Department's selection rules notified in 2014. Please note that a Home Guard is a volunteer, not a salaried government employee — you are called for duty when needed and paid an allowance at the government rate only for the days you work.
This is a district-level drive with block-wise seats, so you can only apply from the block or urban area where you live. If you are a young person from Deoghar who wants to serve alongside the police and local administration, this is a good way in.
Posts and Disciplines
- Home Guard (Rural): seats spread across the ten blocks of the district — Deoghar Sadar, Mohanpur, Karon, Palojori, Sarath, Margomunda, Sarwan, Sonaraithari, Devipur and Madhupur Rural. You must be a permanent resident of the block you apply from.
- Home Guard (Urban) – Technical: seats in Deoghar Urban and Madhupur Urban for people skilled in a trade or profession, such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, nurses, computer operators, typists, licensed HMV/LMV drivers, cooks, carpenters, cobblers, washermen, barbers, electricians, gardeners and plumbers. You must be working or self-employed in that field and hold a certificate from a competent authority.
- Home Guard (Urban) – Non-Technical: general seats in the same two urban areas for ordinary residents of Deoghar's urban area.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Volunteer role: This is not a paid government job or a source of regular livelihood. Apply only if you are ready to serve without expecting a fixed salary.
- Seats for women: Half of all seats in both rural and urban categories are earmarked for women. Of these, 5% go to divorced, abandoned or widowed women; unused seats return to the general women's share.
- Technical share: Half of the urban seats are for technically skilled candidates. If enough suitable candidates are not found, technical and non-technical seats can be filled from each other.
- Government servants: Serving government employees can take up to 10% of the urban seats, and they get extra marks based on their education.
- Sports bonus: Winners at national or state level sports events get bonus marks on top of their test score.
- Provisional seat count: The number of seats is provisional and can be changed, cut or increased without notice.
- Training: After certificate checks, medical examination and police verification, selected candidates attend basic Home Guard training on orders from Jharkhand Home Guard headquarters, Ranchi. You get your enrolment certificate only after finishing the training.
- Technical candidates: Urban technical candidates who fail the technical test lose their candidature.
- False information: Wrong details can lead to cancellation at any stage and legal action under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Application Submission Notes
Apply online on the recruitment.jharkhand.gov.in portal by 5:00 PM on the closing day. Rural and urban Home Guard applications are separate forms, and you can submit only one application, from one block or urban area.
Your application counts as submitted only after the fee is paid through the online payment gateway. Upload a recent colour photo and signature, and give your Aadhaar (preferred), voter ID, driving licence or PAN details. All certificates must be self-attested and issued before the date you apply.
The venue and dates for the physical, writing and technical tests will be announced later in daily newspapers, and results will be posted on the NIC Deoghar website. For any difficulty, contact the District Commandant's office, Jharkhand Home Guard, Deoghar.
