TSHC Research Assistant (Law) Recruitment 2026: Overview

The High Court for the State of Telangana (TSHC) in Hyderabad is hiring Research Assistants (Law) on a one-year contract. Most selected law graduates will work directly with the Hon'ble Judges of the High Court, while a few will be placed at the Telangana State Judicial Academy, Secunderabad. The engagement follows the High Court's guidelines notified in G.O.Ms.No.45 of the Law Department (2017), as amended by later gazette notifications and a Finance Department order of August 2026.

This drive is built for fresh law graduates. Your law degree must be recent, and you should be ready to work full-time without another course or practice running alongside. If you want close exposure to how High Court cases are researched, this is a strong first step in your legal career.

Posts and Disciplines

• Research Assistant (Law), High Court: attached to the Hon'ble Judges of the High Court at Hyderabad to support their judicial work.
• Research Assistant (Law), Judicial Academy: posted at the Telangana State Judicial Academy, Secunderabad, working with the Academy rather than with an individual judge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The engagement is on contract for one year; it is not a regular government post.
• Recent degree rule: Your law degree must have been passed within the two years immediately before the notification date, so older graduates cannot apply.
• Regular courses only: Both routes, the 5-year law course after 10+2 and the 3-year LLB after a regular 3-year degree, must be regular streams from a recognised university.
• No parallel commitments: You cannot pursue another course, profession or occupation that would take you away from work during the engagement.
• Legal research skills: You should be comfortable pulling up judgments and material from online legal databases such as Manupatra, LexisNexis and Westlaw.
• Posts may change: The High Court can increase or reduce the number of posts, or cancel the notification at any stage, and applying gives you no right to the post.

Application Submission Notes

Download the application proforma from the High Court website (tg.tshc.gov.in), fill it in, and send it by registered post with acknowledgement due to The Registrar General, High Court for the State of Telangana, Hyderabad. Write "Application for the post of Research Assistants (Law)" on the envelope.

All certificate copies must be attested by a Gazetted Officer, and your photo can be attested by a Gazetted Officer or the Principal of your law college. The form must reach the Registry by 5.00 PM on the closing day; the Registry is not responsible for postal delays, so post it early.
