Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Senior Associate Consultant (AI/ML) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released Vacancy Circular No. C-04/2026-27 to engage one Senior Associate Consultant Grade-I (AI/ML) on a contract basis in its IT Division at the New Delhi headquarters. TRAI was set up under the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate telecom services and protect the interests of both service providers and consumers, and its mandate has also covered Broadcasting and Cable Services since 2004. This role focuses on building AI and machine learning tools that support TRAI's regulatory work. The contract runs for one year from the date of joining and may be extended based on performance and TRAI's future requirements — TRAI will also keep a reserve panel for vacancies that come up later.

As a consultant, you will help TRAI design and deploy AI/ML models for regulatory compliance, collect and analyse large regulatory datasets, build explainable AI (XAI) reports and audit trails, and train and maintain AI/ML models in production. You will also stay updated with changing regulatory requirements, help prepare material for national and international workshops, and run awareness sessions for TRAI officers on new AI/ML solutions. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics/Telecommunication, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology or Computers, or an MCA in Computers, or an M.Tech in Electronics/Telecommunication/Computers/IT, or an M.Sc in Statistics.
• Programming Skills: You should be proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Scala or Julia.
• Experience: You need at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in the AI/ML domain, including hands-on work with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Desirable: AI/ML certifications (such as Certified Data Scientist or Certified AI Engineer), domain expertise in telecom, finance or economics, and experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

Age Limit

• You should be below 35 years of age as on 03 August 2026, the date of issue of the vacancy circular.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed consultancy pay of Rs. 1,20,000 per month.
• You will also get a fixed Transport Allowance of Rs. 8,000 per month.

Selection Process

TRAI will select the consultant in the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: TRAI reviews your qualification, programming skills and AI/ML experience.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must submit self-attested copies of educational certificates, mark sheets and experience letters.
