TNJFU JRF Smart Protein Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow at the College of Fish Nutrition and Food Technology in Madhavaram, Chennai. The fellow will work on the DST scheme project Development of Millet-Derived Specialty Ingredients for Smart Protein Products through Novel Approaches. The project brings food science, fisheries processing and nutrition together to explore how millet-derived ingredients can support new protein products. It is a hands-on research appointment for someone who can move between experimental work, disciplined data recording and technical coordination. The College of Fish Nutrition and Food Technology is the work base, so your day-to-day activity will be tied to its project facilities and research team in Chennai. The fellow will help turn ingredient ideas into traceable experiments, keeping observations organised enough for the faculty team to compare, review and use in later project reporting.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract status: The post is purely temporary and governed by TNJFU regulations for contractual manpower. It does not carry a right to permanent appointment at the university.
  • Project term: The stated engagement is linked to the smart-protein project and its funded work. The quoted project support applies for a two-year period.
  • Data discipline: Computer use is not optional for this role. The project expects accurate recording of research data in MS Excel alongside the scientific work.
  • Relevant background: Food Technology or Fisheries Science exposure is particularly useful because the project combines ingredient development, food-processing knowledge and structured evaluation.
  • Employer clearance: If you are already employed, you must produce a No Objection Certificate from your current employer when called to the college.
  • Original records: TNJFU checks original supporting records when you attend after receiving the call letter. Make sure the information in your emailed CV can be matched to those records.
  • Own travel cost: The university does not pay travel or daily allowance for attending at the Chennai venue.
  • No regularisation claim: The temporary appointment cannot be used later to claim a regular TNJFU or CFNFT position.
