TMC Project Research Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring a Project Research Scientist (Non-Medical) at its Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Muzaffarpur in Bihar. The post sits under project account No. 5710, an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded study titled "Identification of Genetic Predictors Responsible for Local Failure in Margin-Negative Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Patients in India".

In plain words, the project wants to find out why some oral cancers come back even after surgery removed the tumour with clean margins. That makes this a cancer genomics and bioinformatics job, not a lab-assistant role. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment is initially for six months or till the project continues, whichever is earlier. It is a contract engagement, not a regular TMC post.
• What gives you an edge: Hands-on analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data — whole genome, exome, transcriptome or targeted gene-panel sequencing — and experience building an in-house bioinformatics pipeline.
• Technical skills: The notice expects sound knowledge of Linux, scripting and R programming.
• Preference: Candidates working in academic institutions with at least two years of proven experience will be preferred.
• Place of work: HBCH&RC, Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital Campus, Umanagar, Muzaffarpur.
