TMC, a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. TMC/PUNJAB/AD/04/2026 for 10 permanent posts at its Punjab cancer care units. A corrigendum dated 13 July 2026 broadened the experience requirement for 4 of these posts — the Medical Officer 'G' (Anaesthesiology), Medical Officer 'E' (Medical Oncology - Solid Tumor), Medical Officer 'E' (Nuclear Medicine), and Medical Officer 'E' (Pathology) posts no longer require your experience to be specifically from a Teaching Hospital. Selected candidates will be posted at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, New Chandigarh or Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Sangrur, and may be rotated across other TMC units nationally.

Who Can Apply?

For Medical Officer Posts (Level 12-13A):

  • You need an M.D./D.N.B./D.M./M.Ch. postgraduate degree in the relevant specialization, recognized by the National Medical Commission.
  • Post-qualification experience requirements range from 3 to 13 years depending on the specialization (see table above).

For Officer-in-Charge (Dispensary):

  • B.Pharm with State Pharmacy Council registration plus a PG Degree/Diploma in Material Management or Business Administration, with 5 years' post-MBA experience (10 years in a smaller hospital); OR
  • MBBS with MCI registration plus a PG Degree/Diploma in Material Management/Business Administration, with 4 years' post-PG experience.

For Assistant Dietician (Food Service):

  • M.Sc. in Food Science & Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, or Home Science (Food & Nutrition), with at least 1 year of post-PG experience. Registered Dieticians with Oncology Nutrition experience are preferred.

Age Limit

  • Medical Officer 'G' (Anaesthesiology): up to 55 years
  • Medical Officer 'F' (Interventional Radiology): up to 50 years
  • Medical Officer 'E' posts (Critical Care, Medical Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Surgical Oncology): up to 45 years
  • Officer-in-Charge (Dispensary): up to 40 years
  • Assistant Dietician (Food Service): up to 30 years
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwD (plus an additional 5 years for SC/ST or 3 years for OBC), and length of service plus 3 years for Ex-servicemen.
  • Age and experience are calculated as on 10 August 2026.

Salary

  • Medical Officer 'G' (Anaesthesiology): Rs. 1,31,100 per month (Level 13A)
  • Medical Officer 'F' (Interventional Radiology): Rs. 1,23,100 per month (Level 13)
  • Medical Officer 'E' posts (Critical Care, Medical Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Surgical Oncology): Rs. 78,800 per month (Level 12)
  • Officer-in-Charge (Dispensary): Rs. 56,100 per month (Level 10)
  • Assistant Dietician (Food Service): Rs. 35,400 per month (Level 06)
  • You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances, plus medical facility, accommodation (subject to availability), and pension under the New Pension Scheme.

Selection Process

The selection process differs by post:

  1. Medical Officer and Officer-in-Charge (Dispensary) posts (Sr. No. 1-8): Selection is through Interview only — there is no written exam for these posts.
  2. Assistant Dietician posts (Sr. No. 9-10): Selection is through a Written Examination followed by an Interview.
  3. Document Verification: You must carry original documents along with one set of copies for date of birth, qualifications, experience, and caste/EWS/disability certificates, wherever applicable.

Government/PSU employees must apply through the proper channel or produce a No-Objection Certificate at the time of the test/interview.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist medical care to cancer patients in your area of specialization (Anaesthesiology, Radiology, Critical Care, Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, or Surgical Oncology)
  • Support preclinical and clinical procedures, including surgeries, diagnostics, and treatment planning
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for patient care and hospital operations
  • Follow hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and National Medical Commission norms
  • Participate in academic activities, training, and audits as required
  • Manage dispensary/dietary operations and inventory where applicable (for non-medical posts)

Minimum Qualification

MD/DNB/DM/M.Ch. postgraduate degree (Medical Officer posts), B.Pharm/MBBS with PG Diploma (Officer-in-Charge Dispensary), or M.Sc. in Food Science/Nutrition (Assistant Dietician)

Age Limit

30 - 55 years (as on 10 Aug 2026)

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwD: 10 years (additional 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC)

Exam Pattern

Only the Assistant Dietician (Food Service) posts (Sr. No. 9 and 10) have a written exam before the interview. All other posts, including the Medical Officer and Officer-in-Charge (Dispensary) grades, are selected through interview only.

The written exam for Assistant Dietician posts carries 100 marks. It may be MCQ-based, or a mix of MCQ and subjective questions, based on your area of specialization in food service and nutrition.
