NIT Warangal, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released Advertisement No. 03/2026 dated 20 July 2026 to fill 5 posts across 4 categories through Direct Recruitment and Deputation (including Short Term Contract/ISTC). Two posts — Principal Scientific/Technical Officer and Principal SAS Officer — are open through Direct Recruitment failing which Deputation, while Senior Technical Officer and Assistant Registrar are open only on Deputation (ISTC) basis for officers already working in Central/State Government, universities, institutions of national importance or PSUs. No separate written exam is planned — selection is mainly interview-based. Who Can Apply?

Principal Scientific/Technical Officer (Research/ICT) - Level 14, Rs. 1,44,200/month

• Direct Recruitment: B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc./MCA with first class in a relevant field (Metallurgical & Materials Engineering/Material Science/Chemical Engineering/Chemistry/Physics/Biotechnology for the Research post; Computer Science/IT for the ICT post), plus 15 years' experience as Scientific/Technical Officer including at least 8 years as Senior Scientific/Technical Officer.
• Deputation (ISTC): Officers from Central/State Government, institutions of national importance, universities or PSUs holding an analogous post or with 3-8 years' relevant service, plus the same educational qualification as above.

Principal Students Activity and Sports (SAS) Officer - Level 14, Rs. 1,44,200/month

• Master's Degree in Physical Education or Sports Science with at least 60% marks, a record of representing your University/College at inter-university or national championships, and 15 years' experience as SAS Officer including 3 years as Senior SAS Officer.

Senior Technical Officer (ICT) - Level 12, Rs. 78,800/month (Deputation only)

• B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in Computer Science/IT or MCA with first class, plus 10 years' experience in Science/Technology/Research at Technical Officer level, or holding an analogous post on deputation.

Assistant Registrar - Level 10, Rs. 56,100/month (Deputation only)

• Master's degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks, plus holding an analogous post in Central/State Government, institutions of national importance, universities or PSUs.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 56 years for all four posts.
• Age Relaxation: 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disability (minimum 40%); as per Government of India orders for Ex-Servicemen; and as per rules for reserved and departmental candidates applying under Direct Recruitment.

Salary

• Principal Scientific/Technical Officer & Principal SAS Officer: minimum pay of Rs. 1,44,200 per month in Level 14.
• Senior Technical Officer: minimum pay of Rs. 78,800 per month in Level 12.
• Assistant Registrar: minimum pay of Rs. 56,100 per month in Level 10.
• All posts carry DA and allowances as admissible to Central Government employees posted in Warangal/Hanumakonda, plus Children Education Allowance, medical reimbursement, institute accommodation (subject to availability) and Leave Travel Concession.
