About This Job

TMB Agricultural Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB) is adding an Agricultural Officer at Assistant Manager level to connect its banking services with farmers and rural businesses. This is a regular role with an all-India posting scope, combining agricultural knowledge with credit assessment and customer outreach. The officer is expected to understand both farm conditions and banking rules, so the job goes beyond routine branch processing.
The position supports agricultural lending such as crop finance, equipment loans and Kisan Credit Cards. You will study the borrower and the farming context together, looking at crop patterns, weather conditions and soil quality before helping the bank understand the credit risk. The work also involves explaining subsidies, grants and support programmes in language that rural customers can use, while keeping the bank's lending decisions aligned with policy.
Community contact is a central part of the role. The officer may organise awareness programmes, explain banking products and learn what farmers or agri-businesses need from the branch. Familiarity with government schemes, NABARD guidance and RBI norms helps turn those conversations into suitable financial options. The officer must balance outreach with careful assessment: understanding a farmer's plan is only the first part, while crop cycles, local conditions and repayment risk shape the bank's final view. That mix of field knowledge and financial judgement makes the post different from a general branch role. If you are comfortable speaking with rural customers and also examining the practical risks behind a loan proposal, the post offers a useful bridge between field realities and formal banking.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Regular appointment: the Agricultural Officer joins TMB's regular Assistant Manager workforce rather than a seasonal or project-based programme.
- Transfer liability: the role and work location can change according to the bank's needs, with posting possible anywhere in India.
- Integrity clearance: no vigilance case or adverse observation from RBI or another statutory authority may be pending against a person identified for appointment.
- Professional conduct: canvassing or attempting to influence the recruitment process results in disqualification.
- Customer-facing work: the role requires regular coordination with farmers, rural communities, branches and other teams involved in agricultural credit.
