THSTI Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), Faridabad, is holding walk-in interviews for Senior Project Associate, Project Associate-I and Project Associate-II posts under Rolling Recruitment Notice THS/RN/01/2026/09-I. All the posts sit inside two research projects on newborn infections and birth outcomes, so the work is hands-on lab and data work in bacterial microbiology and genomics. These are short-term project posts, not permanent jobs — a good fit if you have a Life Sciences Master's and want real research experience at a Department of Biotechnology institute.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Project Associate (under Dr. Bhabatosh Das): a bioinformatics-heavy role in the Neo-sepsis programme, which studies how culture-positive sepsis spreads among newborns in Indian hospitals. You need at least four years of post-qualification experience in Microbiology.
• Project Associate-I (under Dr. Krishnamohan Atmakuri): a wet-lab role in the same Neo-sepsis programme, focused on bacterial microbiology, DNA/RNA work and immunoassays. Its walk-in is on a later date than the other posts.
• Project Associate-I (under Dr. Bhabatosh Das): a microbial genetics role in GARBHINI Phase-II, the DBT India Initiative that studies maternal, neonatal and infant health and birth outcomes.
• Project Associate-II (under Dr. Bhabatosh Das): a genomics and microbiology role in GARBHINI Phase-II for candidates with at least two years of relevant experience after the Master's degree.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Project Associate

You will analyse sequencing data from the sepsis study using bioinformatics pipelines. Expect regular work with 16S metagenomics, transcriptomics or whole-genome sequencing datasets, so strong command of these tools matters more than bench work here.

Project Associate-I (Dr. Krishnamohan Atmakuri)

You will extract DNA and RNA from bacterial cultures, swabs and blood, measure it on nanodrop and Qubit, and run RT-PCR, Western blots, cloning and ELISA. The project also uses nanopore and nanostring platforms, involves handling mice, and needs you to be comfortable with PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Office.

Project Associate-I (Dr. Bhabatosh Das)

You will grow microbial cultures, sequence genes and help analyse bacterial genomes collected under the GARBHINI pregnancy cohort study.

Project Associate-II

You will take on the same microbial culture, gene sequencing and genome analysis work as a more experienced team member, with a stronger focus on genomics.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Short-term engagement: extensions depend on your performance and on how long the project runs, and the posts give no claim to regularisation.
• Higher pay for NET/GATE holders: Project Associate pay is higher if you qualified CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship), GATE or another national-level test run by a central department or its agencies.
• Experience counts only after the degree: the experience required is counted from the date you obtained the minimum qualification.
• Eligibility date: your age, experience and qualification are judged as on the date of the walk-in interview for your post.
• Screening: if many candidates turn up, THSTI will shortlist those with higher or more relevant qualifications and experience.
• Vacancies may change: the number of posts can change depending on the actual need on the selection day.
• Communication: results appear only on the THSTI website, and all other contact happens by email.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form for these posts — you simply walk in at 9:00 am on your post's date at THSTI, NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurugram Expressway, Faridabad 121001. Late arrivals after the time slot will not be allowed in. You must hand over your mobile phone and a valid ID at reception, and you get them back only after the full selection process ends.
