Swami Dayanand Hospital Junior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Swami Dayanand Hospital in Dilshad Garden, East Delhi, run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), is filling Junior Resident (MBBS) posts through a walk-in interview at the Medical Superintendent's office. The posts are for a six-month residency under the Residency Scheme, or until the hospital fills them on a regular basis. The public notice names both Swami Dayanand Hospital and VSAS Hospital, so keep both campuses in mind when you plan your joining.

This is a good fit if you have just finished your MBBS and one-year rotatory internship and want paid clinical work in a busy Delhi municipal hospital. There is no written test — you bring your filled form and documents, and the selection happens across the table on the interview day.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: The appointment runs for six months and is governed by the Residency Scheme. The number of posts in any category can go up or down, and the hospital can withdraw them completely.
  • First-time residents only: you must not have already completed one year of junior residency in any other hospital.
  • Delhi registration: you need registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC).
  • Internship: your one-year rotatory internship must be complete before you join.
  • No service benefits: you do not get Provident Fund, pension, gratuity, medical treatment, seniority, promotion or accommodation that regular government staff receive.
  • Unfilled reserved slots: if no SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) or EWS candidate turns up, the post can be given to a candidate from another category for 44 days on an ad-hoc basis. That appointment ends as soon as a suitable reserved-category candidate is found, and you are paid only up to that day.
  • Reservation proof: OBC candidates need a current-year non-creamy layer certificate issued by NCT of Delhi; EWS candidates must hand in their family income certificate before the interview.
  • Persons with Disability: 4% of the posts in eligible specialties are reserved for PwD candidates as per government rules.
  • Cut-off for qualifications: your qualification and experience are counted up to the date of the interview.
  • Conduct: a doctor found guilty of gross misconduct or negligence can be terminated without notice or pay in lieu of notice.
  • Travel: no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
