No. 001/2026 for apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. The training is at the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project site in Bihar. This is a 1-year training program — there is no employment guarantee or extension after completion. Only candidates with a valid Bihar state domicile certificate can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Graduate Apprentices

  • Engineering posts (Mechanical, Electrical, C&I, Env. Control): Full-time 4-year B.E./B.Tech in the relevant branch from an AICTE-recognised institute.
  • HR / IR / CSR: Graduate degree + 2-year full-time MBA (HR specialisation) from a UGC-recognised university.
  • Finance & Accounts: Graduate degree + 2-year full-time MBA (Finance specialisation) from a UGC-recognised university.

Technician (Diploma) Apprentices

  • Full-time 3-year Polytechnical Diploma in the relevant branch from an institute recognised by AICTE or the State Board of Technical Education.

Technician (ITI) Apprentices

  • Matriculation (10th pass) + full-time ITI course in the relevant trade, certified by NCVT or SCVT.

Other Requirements

  • Domicile: You must be a domicile of Bihar state. Candidates from other states cannot apply.
  • Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training at SJVN/STPL are not eligible.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 30 years (for General/EWS) as on 27 April 2026
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Up to 33 years (+3 years relaxation)
  • SC / ST: Up to 35 years (+5 years relaxation)
  • PwD (General): Up to 40 years (+10 years relaxation)
  • PwD (OBC): Up to 43 years (+13 years relaxation)
  • PwD (SC/ST): Up to 45 years (+15 years relaxation)

Stipend (Monthly)

  • Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 10,000 per month
  • Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: Rs. 8,000 per month
  • Technician (ITI) Apprentices: Rs. 7,000 per month

This is a training stipend, not a regular salary. There is no employment after the 1-year training period.

Application Fee

  • General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 100
  • SC / ST / PwD: No fee (exempt)
  • Fee once paid will not be refunded.

Selection Process

Selection is merit-based — there is no written exam or interview. STPL will prepare a merit list based on academic marks:

  1. Merit List: Based on marks secured in Matriculation (10th), Class 12th / ITI / Diploma / B.E./B.Tech / MBA as applicable to the post.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.

The number of candidates called for document verification will be in proportion to the number of vacancies (merit-based shortlisting).

Responsibilities

  • Work at the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project site under the guidance of senior engineers and supervisors
  • Assist in day-to-day operations related to your trade or discipline
  • Follow safety protocols and plant operating procedures at all times
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports, and logs as instructed
  • Participate in technical training sessions and on-the-job learning activities
  • Support maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting tasks in your assigned department
  • Comply with the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 and all company policies during the training period
