Family Court Balasore Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of the District Judge, Balasore has released Advertisement No. 02 of 2026 for recruitment to the post of Counsellor in the Court of the Judge, Family Court, Balasore. The appointment will be made by the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack under Rules 5 and 6 of the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990. This is a counseling role where you will help parties in family disputes reach settlement and conciliation. Applications must be submitted offline to the Office of the Registrar, Civil Courts, Balasore.

Who Can Apply?

Primary Eligibility:

  • Qualification: Master's Degree in Social Science, preferably in Sociology or Psychology
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in family counseling
  • Language: Must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to the M.E. Standard
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India
  • Health: Must be of sound health, good physique and free from organic defects or bodily infirmity
  • Marital: Must not have more than one spouse living

Alternate Eligibility (if primary candidates are not available):

  • Persons above 35 years of age working in the field of social service and welfare activities
  • Must be engaged in promoting the welfare of Family and Child Care
  • Must have a degree in Social Science (preferably Sociology or Psychology)
  • As per Rule 6 of the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990

Age Limit

  • Age is calculated as on 27 April 2026 (the application deadline)
  • Alternate track: Candidates must be above 35 years for the social service and welfare category
  • No specific upper age limit is mentioned in the notification for the primary qualification track

Salary

  • Monthly fee: Rs. 6,000 per month

Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise parties regarding settlement of the subject matter of dispute in family cases
  • Help parties arrive at conciliation in matters entrusted by the Family Court
  • Counsel families involved in matrimonial disputes, child custody issues, and related matters
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Family Court Judge as required
  • Maintain confidentiality in all counseling sessions and case interactions
  • Follow the directives and guidelines of the Family Court and the High Court of Orissa
  • Keep proper records of all counseling sessions and outcomes

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Social Science (preferably Sociology or Psychology) with minimum 3 years experience in family counseling

Preferred Qualification

Specialization in Sociology or Psychology; experience in family and child welfare activities

Required Skills

Fluency in Odia (speak, read and write); interpersonal counseling skills; knowledge of family and social welfare laws
