The Staff Selection Commission, Karnataka Kerala Region (SSC KKR), has released a notification for engaging one Young Professional (Legal Consultant) on a short-term contract basis at its Regional Office in Bengaluru. SSC KKR operates under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel and Training), Government of India. This is a full-time engagement for one year, which may be extended based on performance. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You must have a Graduate Degree in Law (LLB) from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) or any equivalent law school or college in India.
• You must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in your law degree.
• You must have good drafting and communication skills in English — this is an essential requirement.

Desirable Experience

• One year of experience in drafting legal documents and scrutiny is preferred.
• Experience in recruitment-related matters — such as examination notices, answer book evaluation, recruitment results, medical examination cases — is an added advantage.
• Experience in handling CAT (Central Administrative Tribunal) matters and drafting contract agreements is desirable.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 32 years

Salary

• Fixed monthly pay: Rs. 60,000 per month
• If the contract is extended for a second year based on satisfactory performance, the pay may go up by up to 5%.

• Note: No DA, HRA, conveyance allowance, or CGHS medical benefit is included. The Rs. 60,000 is the all-inclusive monthly pay.
• Travel allowance during official tours: Air (Economy) or Rail (AC 2-Tier). Hotel up to Rs. 2,250/day, taxi up to Rs. 338/day, food up to Rs. 900/day.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this post. Selection will happen in the following steps:

1. Application Screening: SSC KKR will review all applications received by the deadline and shortlist candidates who meet the qualification criteria.
2. Interaction/Interview: The commission will interact with shortlisted candidates before finalising the selection. This is a personal discussion round to assess your legal knowledge, communication skills, and suitability for the role.

• Maintain and monitor a database of cases pending or decided in CAT, High Courts, the Supreme Court, and other tribunals
• Draft petitions, replies, rejoinders, affidavits, and other legal pleadings to be filed before courts
• Assist SSC KKR officers in service and recruitment-related legal matters
• Coordinate with the Law Ministry, Senior Law Officers, Government Counsels, and SSC Headquarters
• Draft and scrutinise legal documents such as notices, contract agreements, and official orders from a legal perspective
• Provide legal assistance on examination conduct, answer book evaluation, recruitment results, and medical examination cases
• Scrutinise petitions and analyse how to implement court orders and verdicts within SSC KKR's operational framework
• Obtain legal opinions from the Law Ministry on matters referred by the Regional Office
