Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has issued a short notice for recruitment to 404 Constable (General Duty) posts under the Sports Quota for the year 2026. This recruitment is open to both male and female candidates across various sports disciplines including athletics, kabaddi, wrestling, boxing, judo, archery, shooting, swimming, and other recognised sports. Selection is based on sports trial, physical standard test, and medical examination — there is no written exam.

Who Can Apply?

• Educational Qualification: You must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) from a recognised board.
• Sports Achievement: You must have represented the State, National, or International level or won medals in the relevant sports discipline. Sports certificates from the last 3 years (calculated from the closing date) are usually considered valid.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.
• Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 23 years as on the closing date of the application.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates: 5 years; OBC candidates: 3 years; Other categories as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Pay Level-3 of 7th CPC (Rs. 21,700 - Rs. 69,100 per month)

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates:

• Height: 170 cm (relaxation for SC/ST/Hill area candidates as per rules)
• Chest: 80 cm (unexpanded) / 85 cm (expanded)
• Weight: Proportionate to height

For Female Candidates:

• Height: 157 cm (relaxation for SC/ST/Hill area candidates as per rules)
• Weight: Proportionate to height

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based purely on sports performance and physical fitness:

1. Document Verification: Verification of educational and sports achievement certificates.
2. Sports Trial / Field Test: Sport-specific trial conducted by SSB experts in the relevant discipline.
3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Verification of height, chest, and weight as per prescribed standards.
4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Conducted by SSB Medical Officers to ensure fitness.
5. Review Medical Examination (RME): Conducted in case of appeal against DME findings.

Final selection is based on performance in the sports trial and clearance of all medical and physical standards.
