The Indian Army (HQ 2 Signal Training Centre, Panaji, Goa) is hiring 190 Civilian Switch Board Operator (CSBO) Grade-II, Group 'C' posts on a permanent basis after a 2-year probation. The Headquarters 2 Signal Training Centre, Panaji (Goa), under the Ministry of Defence, has issued an Employment Notice for direct recruitment of 190 CSBO (Civilian Switch Board Operator) Grade-II posts. The post comes with All India Service Liability including Field Service, meaning you can be posted anywhere in India. The recruitment is open to citizens of India who already have hands-on PBX experience.

• SC: 22 posts

Horizontal Reservation (within above):

• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 12 posts
• Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 20 posts

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualifications:

• You must have passed Matric (10th Class) or equivalent from a recognised Board
• You must have proficiency in handling Private Board Exchange (PBX) with a minimum of 6 months experience — an Experience Certificate is mandatory

Desirable:

• Fluency in spoken English and Hindi

No application will be accepted without a valid PBX Experience Certificate.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 25 years of age as on the last date of receipt of application (31 May 2026)
• Age Relaxation:
• OBC: 3 years
• SC / ST: 5 years
• PwBD: 10 years (15 years for SC/ST PwBD, 13 years for OBC PwBD)
• Ex-Servicemen: 3 years (in addition to length of military service)
• Departmental candidates with 3 years continuous service: up to 40 years (45 years for SC/ST)

Salary

• Pay: Rs. 21,700 per month (Level-3, Cell-1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix)
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules
• Selected candidates will be governed by the National Pension System (NPS)
• Initial 2 years probation followed by permanent absorption subject to satisfactory performance

Selection Process

Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit in the Written Test, subject to qualifying the Practical Test and Interview:

1. Written Test (100 marks, MCQ Type, Bilingual English/Hindi):
   • Part I — General Intelligence & Numerical Aptitude: 25 marks
   • Part II — General Awareness: 25 marks
   • Part III — General English: 25 marks (English only)
   • Part IV — Logic & Reasoning: 25 marks
2. Practical Test: Qualifying in nature — checks proficiency in PBX exchange operation
3. Interview: Qualifying in nature
4. Medical Test: Only for shortlisted candidates as per Government Orders

If too many applications are received, screening will be done based on Matriculation marks. Final selection is based purely on Written Test merit.

• Operate the Private Board Exchange (PBX) and handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls
• Connect calls between officers, units and external agencies as per priority
• Keep call registers, duty logs and exchange records up to date
• Handle emergency communication during field operations and exercises
• Maintain confidentiality of official conversations and signal traffic
• Assist with basic maintenance and reporting of PBX equipment faults
• Work in shifts including night duty as per the unit roster
• Follow all Army discipline, security protocols and standing orders
