Ordnance Factory Dehu Road (OFDR) Project Engineer Recruitment 2026 - 13 Posts

Ordnance Factory Dehu Road, a unit of Munitions India Limited (MIL) under the Ministry of Defence, has released a notification to recruit 13 Project Engineers on a tenure basis. The vacancies are split into 7 Mechanical and 6 Chemical Engineering posts (including carry-forward vacancies). There is no written exam — selection is based on academic merit and a personal interview. Freshers with a one-year apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961, in Ordnance Factories or ammunition manufacturing units can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate Project Engineer: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognised university or institute.
  • Diploma Project Engineer: Three-year Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a recognised institute.

Apprenticeship/Training Experience

  • Minimum one year of apprenticeship training as per the Apprentices Act, 1961, in the Mechanical or Chemical trade of Ordnance Factories under Munitions India Limited (MIL), OR
  • Minimum one year of work experience in factories engaged in manufacturing military ammunitions and explosives.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 30 years (as on the closing date of application)
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) as per Government of India rules
  • Additional relaxation for PwBD candidates as per central government norms

Salary

  • 1st Year: Rs. 36,000 per month
  • 2nd Year: Rs. 37,080 per month
  • 3rd Year: Rs. 38,192 per month
  • 4th Year: Rs. 39,338 per month
  • Plus Dearness Allowance (DA) as applicable from time to time
  • The engagement is purely on a tenure basis and does not lead to permanent absorption

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely merit-based. There is no written test.

  1. Academic Merit (85% weightage): Marks obtained in B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering form the basis of shortlisting.
  2. Personal Interview (15% weightage): Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview at the OFDR premises.
  3. Document Verification: Original certificates including educational qualifications, apprenticeship/work experience, caste, and ID proof are checked before final selection.

Final merit list is prepared by combining the academic score and interview score in 85:15 ratio.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in production planning and supervision of ammunition and explosives manufacturing operations
  • Operate and monitor mechanical and chemical processing equipment as per safety standards
  • Maintain quality control records and ensure compliance with defence production specifications
  • Support shop-floor engineers in troubleshooting plant and equipment issues
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols for handling explosives
  • Prepare daily production and inspection reports for senior officers
  • Participate in process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives at the factory
  • Coordinate with maintenance, stores, and quality teams for smooth shop-floor operations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with minimum one year apprenticeship/training under Apprentices Act 1961 in Ordnance Factories/MIL or one year experience in ammunition/explosives manufacturing

Preferred Qualification

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with apprenticeship in Ordnance Factories under Munitions India Limited (MIL)

Required Skills

Knowledge of mechanical/chemical engineering principles, familiarity with ammunition or explosives manufacturing processes, ability to follow safety procedures, basic computer skills
