SKUAST-Kashmir SMS Recruitment 2026

SKUAST-Kashmir is hiring 21 Subject Matter Specialists (SMS) for its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Jammu & Kashmir under Advertisement No. 06 of 2026. SKUAST-Kashmir Subject Matter Specialist Recruitment 2026 - 21 Posts

The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) has released notification Advt No. 06 of 2026 for direct recruitment of 21 Subject Matter Specialists in eight disciplines at its Krishi Vigyan Kendras. These are Pay Level-10 posts for people who want to work in agricultural extension — training farmers and taking science to the field. Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Master's degree in the relevant discipline (see the discipline list above) from a recognised University or Institute.
• Domicile: You must be a domicile of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
• The exact discipline-wise qualification is shown against each post when you apply, and your selection depends on the scrutiny of your original documents.

Age Limit

Your age is counted as on 1 January 2026. The lower age limit is 18 years. The upper age limit depends on your category:

• Open Merit / General: 40 years
• Reserved (RBA / SC / ST / EWS / OBC / LAC-IB): 43 years
• Persons with Disability (PWD): 42 years
• Ex-servicemen: 50 years

The most beneficial upper age limit that applies to you is considered.

Salary

• You will be paid as per Pay Level-10 of the 7th Pay Commission — from about Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per rules.

Selection Process

Selection is based on your qualifications and documents. The main steps are:

1. Online Application & Scrutiny: Your application and discipline-wise qualification are checked.
2. Document Verification: You must produce your original certificates for scrutiny.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called by the university as per its selection norms.

• Run training programmes for farmers, rural youth, and extension workers in your subject area.
• Conduct on-farm trials and front-line demonstrations of new agricultural technology.
• Assess the training needs of farmers and plan the KVK's activities accordingly.
• Prepare extension material, advisories, and technical reports in your discipline.
• Support farmers with technical advice and practical solutions to field problems.
• Work with the KVK team and line departments to spread improved farming practices.
• Keep records of trials, demonstrations, and training programmes.
