SKUAST Jammu Young Professional I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) is filling Young Professional-I positions under the National Soil Mapping Programme (NSMP), an ad hoc project that the notice tags as a SLUSI project. Posts and Disciplines

• Young Professional-I (Remote Sensing, GIS and Data): open to master's holders in Remote Sensing and GIS, Geospatial Studies, Agricultural Statistics, Computer Applications or Computer Sciences. Preference goes to people who have built soil databases, handled large datasets and used RS and GIS software; skill in computer applications or app development also helps.

Both positions carry the same consolidated pay and the same terms, so choose the one that matches your degree and experience.

Post-wise Duties

Young Professional-I (Soil and Lab Analysis)

You will test soil, plant and water samples in the division's laboratory. You will also join the long outdoor surveys across districts of the Jammu division to collect samples and study soil profiles.

Young Professional-I (Remote Sensing, GIS and Data)

You will build and manage the project's soil databases, handle large survey datasets and work with RS and GIS software for the mapping work. Field trips with the survey team are part of the project for everyone.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of engagement: Purely ad hoc, temporary and contractual.
• Tenure: You are first engaged for six months. An extension depends on good performance and available budget, and poor performance can end the engagement at any time during the project.
• No regularisation: The position is co-terminus with the project and ends automatically when the project ends. You cannot claim a regular job at SKUAST-Jammu or with the funding agency.
• Field work: Expect long outdoor surveys in different districts of the Jammu division for sample collection and soil profile studies.
• Scoring: Selection gives 80 marks to academics and 20 marks to the interview. If your academic score falls outside the zone of consideration, you will not be called for the interview.
• Experience marks: Only experience that matches the desired experience for your position is counted.
• Proof of claims: No marks are given for any claim that lacks a self-attested supporting document in your application.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Withdrawal: The university or the funding agency can withdraw the advertised positions at any stage without giving a reason.
• Jurisdiction: Any dispute falls under the courts at Jammu.
