SBI Chief AI Officer and AI Architect Recruitment 2026: Overview

State Bank of India (SBI) is building a senior artificial intelligence team and is hiring specialist cadre officers on a fixed term employment basis under advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/30. The drive is led by a new GM & Chief AI Officer, backed by Deputy General Managers for risk analytics, AI governance and AI operations, and by architects who will shape the bank's on-premises NVIDIA-based AI platform. These are leadership and architecture roles for experienced professionals from banking, BFSI or IT — not entry-level jobs.

Every post is open to unreserved candidates, and pay is a negotiable annual CTC fixed after the interview. If you have led machine learning, generative AI or AI governance work at scale, this is one of the rare chances to do it inside India's largest bank.

Posts and Disciplines

• GM & Chief AI Officer: the top AI role, owning the bank's AI adoption, control towers for AI and data products, and the independent model validation team. Needs senior leadership in AI and analytics with a sizeable team behind you.
• DGM (Risk and Operational Analytics): heads analytics and AI/ML models for early warning, fraud, collections, operational risk and financial-crime use cases.
• DGM (AI Governance and Compliance): builds the bank's responsible-AI framework, model validation and compliance with RBI directions and the Digital Personal Data Protection law.
• DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Dev and AI Ops): runs data pipelines, AI applications, model serving and production operations in coordination with GITC.
• AI Solution Architect: turns business problems into AI solution blueprints; a business or management degree also qualifies alongside computer science and data science.
• Enterprise AI Architect: owns the enterprise AI architecture, GPU infrastructure and standards; TOGAF certification is preferred.

Post-wise Duties

GM & Chief AI Officer

You will lead the rollout of machine learning, NLP and generative and agentic AI across the bank, set up an enterprise AI platform on the Cloudera lakehouse and API layer, and pick the major use cases the bank should adopt. You will also oversee model validation, staff training on AI and liaison with industry, academia and tech firms.

DGM (Risk and Operational Analytics)

You will design, validate and run risk and operational AI/ML models and plug them into core banking, loan origination and fraud workflows. You will build human-in-the-loop controls and report model performance and emerging risks to senior management.

DGM (AI Governance and Compliance)

You will write and enforce AI governance policies, run independent validation of material models, coordinate privacy and AI risk assessments, and handle regulatory inspections and audits on AI systems.

DGM (Data Engineering, Model Application Dev and AI Ops)

You will lead data engineering, MLOps and LLMOps, keep AI applications available and secure in production, plan GPU capacity and disaster recovery, and manage vendors and systems integrators.

AI Solution Architect

You will work with business units to find where AI and GenAI add real value, write functional blueprints, support PoCs and pilots, and track outcomes after rollout.

Enterprise AI Architect

You will define the bank's target-state AI architecture, design GPU workloads on the NVIDIA AI Enterprise stack, and set standards for RAG, vector databases, model gateways and AI security.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed term: The engagement runs for three years and may be renewed for two more at the bank's discretion; total engagement cannot exceed five years.
• Notice: Either side can end the contract with three months' notice or three months' compensation in lieu.
• Pay structure: CTC is split into 90% fixed and 10% variable pay; variable pay depends on your performance score, and increments from the second year depend on performance.
• Posting: Mumbai, or anywhere in India if administrative needs demand; SBI may also depute you to associates or subsidiaries.
• One post only: You may apply for only one post. If you submit more, only your last completed application is kept and other fees are forfeited.
• Interview presentation: Shortlisted candidates for the GM and DGM posts must give a 10-minute presentation on their job profile, projects or milestones during the interview.
• Government and PSU employees: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer to the interview, or your candidature will not be considered.
• Travel: Outstation shortlisted candidates get economy air fare by the shortest route — actual fare for the GM and DGM posts, and a capped amount for the architect posts.
• Experience rules: Training and teaching experience does not count, and individual-contributor work does not count towards the senior leadership years.
