About This Job

Sports Authority of India (SAI) is hiring 1 Junior Engineer on a contract basis under the Last Pay Drawn Minus Pension (LPD) scheme for retired government officers. If you retired from a Junior Engineer or equivalent post in Central or State Government with a Civil or Electrical Engineering diploma or degree, you can apply online. The last date to apply is 24 July 2026. The engagement lasts for 1 year or till you turn 65, whichever comes first.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, has released a notification for 1 Junior Engineer post on Last Pay Drawn Minus Pension basis. This is a re-employment scheme for retired Central or State Government officers who worked as Junior Engineers or in an equivalent post, or who completed at least 5 years of regular service in Level-5 of the engineering cadre. As a Junior Engineer at SAI, you will supervise civil and electrical works related to construction, renovation, maintenance, and upgradation of sports infrastructure — including preparing estimates, checking tender documents, and coordinating with contractors. No written exam is required — selection is based on document scrutiny and an interview.

SAI is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and works under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) to develop and promote sports across the country. It trains and prepares athletes for international competitions, and has built sports infrastructure spread across India along with trained coaches to support this goal. Since SAI is substantially funded by the Government of India, a role like this Junior Engineer post plays an important part in keeping that nationwide infrastructure network in good shape — a good fit for retired engineers who want to keep working on sports infrastructure projects.

Who Can Apply?

  • Eligibility: You must be a retired officer from the Central Government, State Government, or Union Territory Administration who held the post of Junior Engineer or an equivalent post, OR completed at least 5 years of regular service in Level-5 of the engineering cadre (Rs. 25,500-81,100, PB-1 Rs. 5,200-20,200 + Grade Pay Rs. 2,800).
  • Essential Qualification: Diploma in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/institute, OR a Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an AICTE-recognized university/institute.
  • Desired Qualification: Master's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • Desired Experience: At least 1 year of experience in civil or electrical infrastructure maintenance and construction, preferably in sports infrastructure works.
  • You are fully responsible for the genuineness of your certificates — SAI can reject experience certificates that do not give correct details.
  • During your engagement, you may come across confidential information such as coaching data, performance analysis, and athlete training data — you must keep this strictly confidential under the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923.

Age Limit

  • Your age should not exceed 64 years as on the opening date for receipt of applications (25 June 2026).

Salary

  • This is a Last Pay Drawn Minus Pension engagement under Pay Matrix Level 6 (7th CPC) — your monthly pay is fixed by deducting your basic pension from your last drawn government salary, and it stays the same for the whole contract period with no annual increment or Dearness Allowance.
  • You will get a Transport Allowance of Rs. 10,800 per month during the contract.
  • No other allowances — DA, HRA, accommodation, medical reimbursement, or LTC — will be given.
  • Leave: You get 1.5 days of leave per month (up to 18 days in a calendar year) on a pro-rata basis. Unused leave will not carry forward to the next year, and no remuneration is paid for absences beyond 18 days in a year.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Document Screening: Your application will be checked against the eligibility criteria and your relevant experience and job description.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview by the duly appointed Selection Committee. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

SAI may also draw up a panel valid for one year from this recruitment, which can be used by SAI or any government-funded scheme/project. If your performance is not found satisfactory, your engagement can end with 15 days' notice; if you want to resign, you must give 30 days' notice or pay a month's remuneration in lieu of notice, subject to approval by the competent authority. The final decision on eligibility, selection, and posting rests entirely with SAI, and no correspondence will be entertained on this.
