RITES Ports and Waterways Manager Recruitment 2026: Overview
RITES Limited (RITES), a Navratna consultancy company under the Ministry of Railways, is hiring engineers for its Ports and Waterways work on a regular (permanent) basis. The drive covers three vacancy notices, RG/26-R1/25 to RG/28-R1/25: one senior post for an experienced marine structures designer and two junior posts, one on port and waterway design and the other on coastal modelling. All three posts need a civil engineering degree plus a master's degree in a marine, ocean, coastal or structural subject, so this is aimed at specialists, not general civil engineers.
RITES runs one common written test for all three posts at the same date and time, so you can realistically go for only one of them. Pick the post that matches your master's degree and your work experience before you apply.
Posts and Disciplines
- Sr. Manager (Ports and Waterways), RG/26-R1/25: a senior design role for engineers with long hands-on experience in quay walls, jetties, dolphins, breakwaters, dry docks, slipways and ship lifts. The master's degree can be in Marine Engineering and Management, Ocean Structures or Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
- Assistant Manager (Ports and Waterways), RG/27-R1/25: a junior design role for engineers who have worked on the design or analysis of marine structures such as jetties, dolphins, quay walls and breakwaters. The same master's degree options apply as for the senior post.
- Assistant Manager (Coastal Modelling), RG/28-R1/25: a modelling role for engineers with work on coastal or ocean engineering projects or numerical modelling of coastal processes. Here the master's degree can be in Coastal Engineering, Marine Engineering and Management, or Ocean Structures or Engineering. One of the posts under each Assistant Manager notice is reserved for OBC (NCL) candidates.
Post-wise Duties
Sr. Manager (Ports and Waterways)
You will lead the design, analysis and detailing of port and coastal structures for RITES consultancy projects, from breakwaters and berths to dry docks, and check that designs follow Indian and international marine codes.
Assistant Manager (Ports and Waterways)
You will prepare and check structural designs for jetties, dolphins, quay walls and breakwaters, work on pile foundations and marine loads, and support the senior team on project drawings and reports.
Assistant Manager (Coastal Modelling)
You will set up and run wave, tide, current and sediment models using tools such as MIKE21, SWAN and Delft3D, study harbour tranquility and shoreline change, and turn model results into inputs for port planning.
