RITES Limited (RITES) AGM/JGM/DGM (Mechanical) Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

RITES Limited (RITES), a Navratna Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has invited applications to fill 3 posts of Additional General Manager, Joint General Manager, and Deputy General Manager (Mechanical) at its various project offices in India and abroad. RITES carries out railway, transport, and infrastructure consultancy assignments across the country, and regularly brings in experienced Railway officers into its Mechanical Engineering vertical through deputation. These 3 posts can be filled on deputation or immediate absorption basis, depending on which grade you currently hold. There is no written exam — RITES shortlists candidates purely on qualification, vigilance record, service performance, and a personal interview.

Vacancy Breakdown

  • Deputy General Manager (Mechanical): For Senior Scale IRSME officers working in Level-11 (7th CPC)
  • Joint General Manager (Mechanical): For Senior Scale IRSME officers who have completed 3 years in Senior Scale (deputation basis only)
  • Additional General Manager (Mechanical): For JAG-level IRSME officers working in Level-12 (7th CPC)

Together these three designations add up to 3 vacancies, and which post you get depends entirely on your current railway grade at the time of application.

Who Can Apply?

For Deputy General Manager (Mechanical) — Level 11:

  • You must be a serving IRSME (Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers) officer working in Senior Scale, Level-11 (7th CPC).

For Joint General Manager (Mechanical) — Deputation only:

  • You must be a Senior Scale IRSME officer who has completed 3 years of service in Senior Scale. This designation is available only on deputation, not immediate absorption.

For Additional General Manager (Mechanical) — Level 12:

  • You must be a serving JAG-level IRSME officer working in Level-12 (7th CPC).

This recruitment is not open to the general public — only serving Railway officers of the IRSME cadre can apply, and your application must be routed through your Head of Department (HOD).

Age Limit

  • Your age as on the last date of application should not exceed 55 years if you want to be considered on immediate absorption basis.
  • Your age as on the last date of application should not exceed 57 years if you want to be considered on deputation basis.

Salary

  • Selected officers will get a salary of Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month, depending on whether you are placed at Level-11 or Level-12 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
  • You will also get deputation allowance and other admissible allowances on top of your basic pay, as per Railway Board guidelines.
  • If you join RITES on deputation, the company will provide you company or leased accommodation as per your eligibility.

Note: The Ministry of Railways, through letters dated 2 August 2024 and 20 December 2024, has extended RITES' exemption from the mandatory absorption rule, allowing officers to continue on deputation for three more years beyond 31 August 2023. This is why RITES keeps inviting Railway officers to these posts every year.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

RITES selects officers through a 100-mark weightage system — there is no written test:

  1. Educational Qualification: Up to 15 marks — 10 marks for your basic minimum qualification (degree/diploma in a relevant subject) and up to 5 marks for additional qualifications.
  2. Vigilance/DAR Record: Up to 10 marks based on your vigilance and disciplinary history over your career.
  3. Service Performance: Up to 25 marks based on your Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APAR) for the last 5 years.
  4. Interview: Up to 50 marks, assessed by the selection committee on your domain knowledge, work experience, managerial ability, and overall suitability.

You need to score at least 60% marks (60 out of 100) to be considered eligible for the merit list, which is prepared strictly in order of merit.
