RGU has advertised 2 Project Associate positions (Memo No. RGU/PC/DBT-NER/BD-674/2026) to work on a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), North Eastern Region (NER) funded project titled "Augmentation and inundative release of a new reduviid predator, Sycanus collaris, for the management of two major tea pests Hyposidra talaca and Helopeltis theivora." Tea pests like the looper caterpillar and the tea mosquito bug cause heavy crop losses across Northeast India every year, and this project studies an eco-friendly biological control method instead of relying only on chemical pesticides. The project is led by Dr. Bhabesh Deka, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, RGU — a Central University located at Rono Hills, Doimukh in Arunachal Pradesh. This is a hands-on applied entomology research role focused on the mass rearing of study insects and experimental analysis — a good fit for M.Sc. graduates in Entomology who are interested in agricultural research and want to build their research profile before pursuing a Ph.D.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree in Science with Agriculture Sciences / Life Sciences / Zoology, with Entomology as a special subject, from a recognized University/Institute.
• NET Requirement: You must have qualified NET (ASRB/CSIR/UGC).
• Nature of Work: You will assist the Principal Investigator directly in laboratory and field-based experimental work, focused on the mass-rearing of the study insects.
• Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in higher studies and research.

Salary

• If you qualify through NET (ASRB/CSIR/UGC, including Assistant Professor eligibility) or GATE, or through a national-level exam conducted by a Central Government department/agency, you get Rs. 31,000 + 9% HRA = Rs. 33,790 per month.
• Other candidates get Rs. 25,000 + 9% HRA = Rs. 27,250 per month.
• The post is temporary for one year, extendable up to three years based on your performance, and is co-terminus with the project.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection happens in 2 stages:

1. Application Screening: RGU shortlists candidates based on the qualifications, NET score/rank, and experience mentioned in the application form.
2. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates are informed through a separate email communication about the date and time of the interview. You must bring original certificates for verification at the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, so plan your travel accordingly.
