Selection Process

You will be selected through a written examination followed by document verification. The written exam is objective type with multiple choice questions, divided into two parts. Part A tests your Punjabi language skills and is purely qualifying in nature — you need at least 50% marks to qualify. Part B covers your educational qualification subjects and is what actually determines your merit ranking. There is negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer in Part B, so accuracy matters as much as speed.

Preparation Tips for PSSSB Excise Inspector Exam

  1. Download the official syllabus from sssb.punjab.gov.in — the syllabus link is available on the vacancy page itself
  2. Master Punjabi language first — Part A is qualifying, and failing it means automatic disqualification regardless of your Part B score
  3. Focus on your graduation subjects — Part B tests educational qualification topics, and this is where your merit is decided
  4. Practice with previous PSSSB papers — the board follows a consistent pattern across its Group C exams
  5. Watch the negative marking1/4 mark deduction per wrong answer in Part B, so skip questions you are unsure about
  6. Take timed mock tests to build speed and accuracy for the actual exam day
