POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Ministry of Power enterprise, is engaging ITI, diploma and graduate engineering apprentices across its regional establishments. The programme is meant for recently qualified candidates who want supervised workplace exposure in the electrical transmission sector. This is apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, not an appointment to a regular POWERGRID post.
The recruitment is organised region by region, with opportunities listed against individual states and trades on the POWERGRID apprentice portal. You can choose only one region, state and trade, so compare the available combinations before making your selection.
Posts and Disciplines
- ITI Electrician: trade apprenticeship focused on electrical equipment, basic maintenance, safe tool use and supervised field or substation work.
- Diploma Electrical: technician-level exposure to electrical systems, drawings, inspections, maintenance records and operational support.
- Diploma Civil: technician-level work linked to foundations, buildings, site measurements, quality checks and civil-maintenance records.
- Graduate Electrical: engineering exposure across transmission assets, technical documentation, maintenance planning and safety systems.
- Graduate Civil: engineering exposure to construction support, site records, quantity checks and upkeep of POWERGRID infrastructure.
Post-wise Duties
ITI Electrician
You will learn through supervised electrical trade work, including safe handling of tools, equipment checks and routine maintenance support. You will also keep the training and work records required by the establishment.
Diploma apprentices
You will support engineers and site teams with measurements, inspections, drawings and maintenance documentation in your chosen electrical or civil discipline. The emphasis is practical learning while following the site's technical and safety procedures.
Graduate apprentices
You will assist with engineering analysis, technical records, planning inputs and field coordination under an assigned mentor. Your work will stay within the discipline and region selected in your application.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Recent qualification: your final examination result must fall within the two-year window set by the notice; candidates awaiting results cannot apply.
- Previous training: anyone who has already completed or is currently undergoing apprenticeship training in any organisation is not eligible.
- Prior employment: candidates with more than one year of job experience cannot join this apprenticeship.
- Medical fitness: engagement depends on meeting the medical-fitness provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Single choice: multiple applications, or applications for more than one region, state or trade, will be rejected.
- No employment claim: completing or undergoing the programme does not give you a right to employment with POWERGRID.
Application Submission Notes
Before using the POWERGRID portal, ITI Electrician candidates need an active NAPS registration, while diploma and graduate engineering candidates need an updated NATS profile. Upload the required records to the relevant national apprenticeship portal before you complete the POWERGRID application.
The final application is accepted online through the dedicated POWERGRID apprenticeship portal. Choose your region, state and trade carefully because the notice does not allow a second choice or multiple applications.
