Odisha Police Special Police Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
Odisha Police is bringing retired police officers back into service as Special Police Officers (SPOs) under Western Range, Rourkela. The engagement covers Kendujhar, Sundargarh and Rourkela districts and uses a contractual re-employment arrangement.
This notice is for officers returning after retirement from the state police. If that describes your background, pay particular attention to the service-record conditions and re-employment agreement, as these are central to this recruitment.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract term: You will need to sign an agreement for re-employment. The contract cannot exceed one year under this notice. Plan your availability around that limited engagement.
- Area of work: The notified engagement is within the Western Range districts named in the advertisement. The application is handled by the range office in Rourkela.
- Previous government accommodation: If you had a government quarter during your earlier service, you must already have vacated it. The notice makes this a condition for returning under the contract.
- Uniform: Re-employed officers must wear the uniform and badge prescribed by the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Odisha.
- Medical Board decision: The decision of the Medical Board on fitness is final and binding. Further participation depends on the outcome recorded by the board.
- Accuracy of information: The application declaration makes you responsible for the details you provide. Incorrect information can lead to discharge from the contract.
- Physical-test declaration: The enclosed form includes a declaration about taking part in the physical test. It also records that the authority will not be responsible for an accident or injury during that test.
Application Submission Notes
Send your application to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Sector-5, Rourkela. Use a neatly typed form that follows the proforma attached to the notice, with all relevant columns completed.
